So it happened that Tristan the Red Ice Rider, as he would later become known, came into the world on the Winter Solstice. 'Twas the year 570 of the tenth age, where the winter was the coldest and the war strongest. Omens from the gods, but from the old ones forgotten and no longer worshipped.
The last heirs of the Four Lines were born that year as well; one who would become the next Regency King, two who would become the last hope of the Menera Line, one who inherited the legacy of the Ravens, and one who would carry the line of the Vicomtes forward. A prince had come into the world, as had four other boys who held the traditions of old on their shoulders.
That is all to say, the year that Tristan the Red Ice Rider was born, great change and destiny was foretold. Destiny in the way of the people of Thallium, of course.
