It was a decent enough day in middle earth, the sun was shining warmly above the grass green and inviting, begging to be slept on, beautiful wild flowers bloomed, as a mysterious pair arrived in the small village that was all a bustle, halflings darting here and there, the visitor's horses stopped and they dismounted and began to do what they came here to do.

"Baethal collect what you need and find us some food I'll meet you by the creek for a spot of lunch, why don't you stretch your 'legs' I know you've been dying to for weeks now"
The tall wizard told the girl, he gave her a look that told her to behave. She just rolled her eyes in response.

"Sure thing Gandalf!! I'll see you later, don't get into trouble old man!!"
She called back, already running off, into the town with a bag of coins that chimed at her side.

"That girl has too much spirit"
The wizard said to himself as he set off to see a particular hobbit, Gandalf hadn't given her all of the information but she was a loyal companion; she didn't need the details unless absolutely crucial and she was content with that, she trusted Gandalf emphatically.

All the girl knew was they were going on an adventure with some Dwarves and a hobbit and that's all she needed, she knew she would be safe with Gandalf. Baethal had been in the care of Gandalf the grey since she was merely the equivalent to a toddler he was someone who could keep her safe and hidden.

She was the chieftess of the skin changers yes she was also half elf but she was the last female so all the the shifters history and power went to her and elvish side had somehow enhanced her strength and abilities, sent to Gandalf by Galadriel he was tasked to raise the half elf child, her uncle would not care for her he would not accept her half elvish side.

Baethal walked around the market checking out stores and vendors getting along with most locals a few dirty looks were shot her way no doubt because of her pointy ears poking out, a few going as far as to ask why she was so friendly for an elf she had only met a handful of other elves that she can remember and they were nothing but kind to her. So the assumption she would be rude confused her.

A small child at a stall asked her about her appearance, much to the disappointment of her father who tried to shush the child.
"Miss, why do you have a splodge of white hair?"

"Well that's because of my parents little one, my mother had dark hair and my father had blonde and somehow I got a bit of both, a friend of mine said it's like it's telling me no matter how dark the world seems there will always be some light"
Baethal explained with a smile across her face she found the young halflings curiosity adorable.

"I'm sorry for her questioning miss"
The father apologised again to which Baethal just shook her head.

"No it's fine, I swear. I'd be curious too"
She said in reply before shifting her gaze to the small hobbit.
"So now I have a question for you pretty little hobbit, which jewel should I get? So many choices and I just cannot decide"

The little girl lit up and busied herself trying to find one that suited the visitor perfectly while the father spoke to the young woman.

"So what brings you here of all places"
The man asked. Baethal found it a little funny he told off his child for asking questions and now he is doing just that.

"My travelling companion and I are just passing through and he wanted to visit an old friend. I decided to take in the culture. I must say you hobbits are a fun bunch, this place feels like home...."
She said before the little girl interrupted.

"This one miss the blue gem matches your eyes"
The girl was proud of her decision and Baethal took the jewel to inspect it.

"Well then I need this earthy green gem too, to reminded me of this town and your cute little self"
She said picking up another jewel and paying for them both with a little bit extra for the small child.
