(Jughead's POV)
You never know how much your word or actions can really affect somebody's life. Just one comment about someone and you could have just changed their lives forever. It was Science. My third period of the day. I was sat next to my lab partner Betty Cooper. She was one of the nicest people I've ever met. Not that I've met that many people anyways. I remember that day like I remember my own name.

It was Tuesday, January 29th. I live in a small town called Riverdale. Earlier that morning I had breakfast with my dad, which never happens. Today my dad was acting extra happy. He didn't look drunk, he wasn't laying down watching tv all day, he actually looked genuinely happy. He offered to let me skip school and we could just hang out. I declined. Now I look back in that moment and think about what would've happened if I had said yes. Would Betty be alive? Would I be fine? Would none of this even happened?

Right before I went to school I met up with my friend Archie and had a talk with him. For some reason my gut had been telling me to stop go home and stay there. But of course I didn't listen to it. I wish I had. I can't remember exactly what we were talking about but it wasn't something very important.

I rode to school with Archie and arrived at 8:12. Which is 3 minutes before the bell rings. Archie and I went and sat in the student lounge. Betty and Veronica were already in there talking. I sat down next to Betty so Archie could sit next to Veronica. They were so in love with each other it was crazy.

Betty and Archie are my best friends. We've known each other for years. To be honest I never knew how I felt about Veronica. Sure we were friends but we weren't as close as I was with Archie and Betty but we were still all pretty close.

After 1st period I had a free period. I went to the Blue and Gold, which was the news paper that Betty and I work on. I started working on the paper for tomorrow when Betty walked in. She looked like she was gonna be sick.
"Betty? What wrong?" I asked her standing up. She looked as white as a ghost.
"I don't know. I just have this sick feeling. It's almost like I can feel something bad is about to happen." I looked puzzled but I knew what she meant. That was the feeling I had gotten earlier today.

"Do you want to go home?" I asked her. I was hoping she would say yes. She shook her head no.
"Okay, don't worry I'm sure everything will be fine." I said. My words seemed to calm her down a little bit. She walked over to me and hugged me. At that point I was so confused. I know I'm not Betty's best friend in our friend group. She's closer with Archie and Veronica. So why did she come to me? I didn't want to make her feel worse then she already did so I shut up. I grabbed her wrist gently and brought her over to the small couch that we have.

I sat down next to her and she placed her head on my shoulder. I put my arm around her and started to rub her upper arm slowly. Her hair was so blonde and beautiful. I knew she was crying even though I couldn't see her face. I'm that moment I felt a little flutter in my heart. I wasn't sure what it was trying to tell me but I knew it was trying to tell me something.

I wasn't sure how long we were sitting like that but it was long enough for the bell to ring. Betty and I had the next period together so we walked together. When we arrived in class we sat down. And waited for the tardy bell to ring. Once it rang the teacher stared her lesson. I felt the loose knot in my stomach tighten and tighten. Something wasn't right. Something was about to happen. I looked to my left to see Betty getting more pale by the second.

It felt like time had slowed down but somehow was going by quicker. Betty raised her hand while the teacher was looking at the board. For some reason that I can't explain I pulled Betty's hand down. She looked at me with confusion. I mouthed the words 'no' to her and shook my head. But she didn't resist. It was like she was having the same feeling as me. That's when it started. The noises.
"Pop pop" followed by screaming. The teacher stood up and peaked out the little door window. She put her hand over her mouth to prevent herself from screaming.
