Keefe POV

Blood pooled out of my leg and chest. It's not too late. I can still see her one last time. I needed to see her face. I needed to be strong. I pushed past my body's limits and stood on my good leg. 

I fell. I felt the energy drain from my body. Maybe I should just close my eyes...

Sophie. I needed to find Sophie. This is for her, she needs to know.  

I stood up again. I reached the cave's exit and fell again. 

"You're weak, boy. Don't forget it."  His words rang through my ears.

I felt the tears begin to pour down my cheeks. I panted as I struggled to stand up. "Sophie..." I breathed her name out. 

I looked up, and I saw an approaching figure through the distance.

Foster? 

I sat up in the snow.  She needs to know... 

I feel my eyes droop closed and my back land on the hard ground as I fall unconscious. 

It's dark. An all-consuming darkness that swallowed me whole. I need to get out of here. I need to be strong. For her. And then there was light. A small spark in my endless sea of black. And that was enough. It called my name and set me free.  

"Keefe!" She sobbed, gripping my shoulders. She was shaking, and her salty tears landed on my face as she leaned over me. "Keefe, why did you do that? Why?"

I smiled. "For you," I rasped. "I-i'd do anything for you."

I didn't regret it.

If I had to do it all over again...

I would.

For her. 

She hugged me close, her quiet sobs ringing through my ears. 

"Don't cry for me," I tell her, smiling through the pain. 

She cried louder, trying to smile, but breaking into sobs again. 

"Sophie..." I whispered. 

I felt the darkness approach me. No, not yet. I'm not done yet. I swam away from the waves, clinging to the one thing I had left. 

"Sophie, I love you,"

This is my second book on wattpad, I hope you like it so far.  I haven't written anything for wattpad in a while and I want to get back to posting.
