Prologue: The Tremor

It was getting late. And Glitch was at it again. There were the Go Jetters, trying their best to stop the London Eye from falling into the river Thames. Or at least Kyan, Xuli and Foz were.

Now, where was Lars when all this was happening? Well, he happened to be in the London Eye when it started falling. So obviously, he was stuck in there, with Glitch, hoping to be rescued.

And that his ears wouldn't burst from Glitch screaming "GRIMBLES!!!!!"

Unfortunately for him, the ride was almost in the river, and it was about to fall in when...CLUNK. It stopped. Then it started backing up as Foz, Kyan and Xuli pulled with all their might to get it back to its original place.

Once it was fixed, the Go Jetters gathered together in front of Glitch. "Why did you glitch the London Eye, Glitch?" The moustached man didn't want to reply, but one of the Grimbots flew forward and pressed one of their buttons, playing a recording of Glitch's voice saying "This is booooooooooriiiiiiiiiing! Grimbots! Make this go faster! NOW!" The Go Jetters all shook their heads in disapproval.

And now, it was the middle of the night. JetPad landed quietly on the landing pad, and the Go Jetters headed off to their respective rooms to try and get some sleep.

Except for Lars.

He decided to do some stargazing that night. He got consent from Ubercorn, retrieved a telescope and a notepad, and sat down on the beach, looking up at the beautiful sky. In his opinion, nothing would happen to disturb this peace.

It was three in the morning.

Lars was still there, enjoying his time alone so much, he didn't even notice the time passing.

He had just realized how late it was when the ground shook. It was only for a split-second, but the sheer force of the tremor knocked him off his feet, just before the telescope swung round and would have hit his head. Then it fell to pieces. He heard a loud clunk coming from JetPad, and knew that it could only mean one thing.

Something was badly broken.

Inside, everyone had woken up. Foz found himself and about half of his books on the floor, and Ubercorn received a rather nasty bump on his head. After that, the neon lights that lit up the Academy flickered out. A lot of the Cadets panicked, others were excited, and others were a bit nervous, but still trying to reassure the others.

The unicorn ran out of his bedroom and shouted "Everyone remain calm!" Then he added "Go Jetters? We have to see what's going on!"

"Coming, Ubercorn!" yelled Kyan. He was midway of reaching Ubercorn, when Xuli stopped him. "Kyan, would you mind helping me get Foz out of his personal library?" she asked him. Kyan took one look into Foz's bedroom and saw the genius struggling to pull himself out of his collection of books.

Kyan thought for a moment, and called out "I'll be there in a sec, Ubercorn! I just gotta get Foz outta his bookpile first!"

Kyan's POV:

I was really surprised at the amount of books Foz had. And most of them were huge. No wonder Xuli asked me to help.

After about two minutes, Foz was free.

"Thanks, Kyan and Xuli. Now let's go downstairs and see what on Earth is going on!" And with that, he darted out of his room. Seconds later, we heard a BANG! and we saw a silhouette of Foz falling to the ground. He slowly got up and said "I hit a wall."

"Well, I'm not surprised. It's almost impossible to see without the lights." Xuli replied.

A voice rang throughout the Academy building. "Go Jetters! I need you NOW!"

 We all exchanged nods and made our way downstairs. We saw Ubercorn trying to get the computer to work with Lars tinkering with loads of wires and all that whatnot.

I fixed my gaze on Xuli. She was trying her best not to freak out, looking nervously at our mentor as if to say Come on, Ubercorn. We might not have much time.

I couldn't get my eyes off of her. I'd had a crush on her for a while, but I'd never told her about it. I was gonna do it now, but I wanted it to be a secret between us two. And plus, considering the atmosphere, it wasn't really the right time anyway.

The computer flickered on, snapping me out of a daydream (or nightdream? I dunno). Ubercorn pumped his hoof in victory and started searching round, trying to find where the tremor came from and what caused it. He tracked it to some place deep in the South West Pacific Ocean, but he couldn't find what it was.

"What's going on?" came two voices from upstairs.

Professor Wave's POV:

I ran down the stairs as fast as my legs could carry me. Tala was following me, probably wanting to get away from the other cadets in fear of being crushed.

We got there, and Ubercorn asked me "Professor, could you try and figure out what is going on here?" I took a look at the screen. It all seemed blurry. I took off my glasses, wiped them and put them back on.

I managed to make out a crack on the seafloor. There was also loads of destruction right beside it. A whole coral reef was in shambles, and there were countless fish trying to get out of the wreck which they used to call home.

I turned to the others and said "I have come to conclude that there was an earthquake in the South West Pacific Ocean. This type of earthquake is very dangerous, and can cause natural disasters, so tomorrow, we have to start training the cadets should anything happen. See if you can get a computer with a reliable power source and take it to the top of the cliff down there. Find provisions, too. We can't risk losing any cadets."

Everyone nodded in approval. Then a yawn escaped Tala and she quickly whispered "Sorry. I'm just a little tired." "We all are," answered Ubercorn, "which is all the more reason why we gotta get some rest."

Everybody started trudging back up towards their rooms. But I couldn't sleep, no matter how many times I tossed and turned in bed. I was worried for everyone, but I reassured myself that everyone would be fine.

I could never have been more wrong.

And that, folks, is the prologue of my first big fic (and by that I mean longer than a one- or two-shot)! Is it just me, or am I the first person to use Professor Wave in a GJ fic? Tell me if I'm wrong in the comments below (if you can be bothered).
