Chapter 11: Past lover

I continued reading...and he also continued to read.

For hours, we stayed there. One after the other books. I guess I read three books...of poems... I mean... Then.

"I am sorry ma'am and sir, but we are going to close now. We'll open again tomorrow at nine o'clock am."

"Oh. Okay."

We walked out..then he asked me.

"Do you want to eat?"

"No,--"

Then my stomach made a noise that proves that I am lying.

He just smiled so I said...

"Okay, but I will be the one to choose where to eat."

"Okay."

We went to the market. I know that there's a cafe there. They serve soup, and all sorts of cheap drinks.

"You know it is my first time to go to a market."

I smiled.

"Thank me, you experienced going here because of me."

"Okay, thank you."

He smiled at me.

"I like it here in the market. No one really knows you here. Everyone is busy on their job to earn money. You are on your own."

"uhm. So tell me, why did you go to the bookstore awhile ago? And don't lie, you're bad at it."

He laughed.

I guess he noticed that I am.... a little depressed.

"The bookstore is like a park. Shelves are like trees with a lot of fruits-- the books. And like the market, you are on your own. Everyone in there is busy looking for a book, reading a book, or something."

"Oh."

We became silent ...

"Oh, there's the shop."

I pointed and run towards the place.

He followed me.

"Since, I let you pick the place where we can eat. I'll be the one to pay for what we eat."

I smiled.

"Sure."

Both of us ordered Ramen and a bottle of sake.

I ate first. I am really hungry when I noticed that Jinno is still ....just tasting the food.

"Oh, come on. Eat it. It's clean and delicious!"

He did do what I asked him to do.

"It is delicious."

"Of course, it is."

I continued eating.

"So Jinno, why are you here? I thought you've continued your studies abroad."

"Yes, I did. But my father asked me to get some papers signed her."

"So....?"

He wiped his mouth.

"Maybe tomorrow or the next day, I'll be back there again."

"Oh.."

I continued eating.

"Where's Hotaru by the way?"

"She's at home...studying, reading,"

"Why are you not with her?"

I did not answer.

But after a few minutes.

"You know, you ask a lot of question. Let's go home now."

He followed me.

"Let's use my car--"

"Okay, but I am going to buy something first."

I went to another store.

"How much is this?" --pointing at the baller band.

"60 yen"

"I'll buy it."

I noticed that the words,'stay the same', is written on it so I bought it.

When were already at our house,..

"Jinno, thank you very much for being there."

"Sure thing, go inside now."

"Wait."

I searched for the baller band in my bag.

"Here. This is for you. Thank you again."

He smiled.

"Thank you also."

I smiled.

"Who is he?"

Ren is here.

I noticed my brother is also there.

"I'll go in now."

But Ren pulled me back.

"No, Ren."

Said my brother.

So he let go of my hand.

I went in the house... 

I went directly to my bed and covered myself with my blanket.
