Damnation

I opened my eyes, wondering what i would see, who would be waiting for me on the other side. Once my eyes were adjusted to the flickering dim lights around me i knew i wasn't where i expected to be.

I was laying on a table my breath catching hold as I drew in sharply.

"You're awake,"

I shrieked sitting up in shock only to find myself being pushed back down by a familiar old man.

"Father Galvin," I whimpered.

He smiled down at me, a sad and yet thankful face he always seemed to wear.

I swallowed staring around the small room "What happened?"

"I found you," he replied a tone in his voice I didn't like.

I raised my hand to rub my eyes pausing to see a needle inbeeded in my arm with a long red line running from it to a bag of blood "What is this," I yelled grabbing a hold of it.

Father Galvin leapt at me shaking his head "Dont, Your weak you need it,"

I stared at him "I don't understand.., it was a dream," I cried out trying to convince myself.

He stared at me "Athena my child, what happened to you early this morning is rare, very rare. There has been no biting for centuries,"

I panicked "It's but a Myth," I laughed "It's only a Myth,"

I stared at him "I'm not..," I froze clasping a hand to my neck feeling the two dimple marks "I'm not-," I let out.

He sighed "Athena-,"

"No," I screamed in horror burying my face in my hand "Please this can't be," I sobbed.

"Your first feed transform you.., you belong to the night now,"

I shook my head staring at him "I'll rather die than become something that's not supposed to be real,"

"Then you'll die within two days," He whispered "They walk among us during the night you know, and in the day they sleep. A stray must be on the loose," he sighed.

I blinked trying hard to figure out what had happened but only mild images flashed before my eyes. I was to live like this, this thing i would watch on T.V and wonder how anyone could have came up with something so ridicules. and now here i was Eating my own words

"I was informed of a body lying in an alley, I didn't expect you to be alive," He explained.

I narrowed my eyes at him in confusion "What do you mean you were informed?" I asked.

He smiled shaking his head from side to side "All in good time," he replied turning to a small mini fridge in the corner as he pulled something out before placing it beside me.

I cringed away from it shaking my head as i stared out of the small window high above the ceiling.

"What time is it?" I whispered.

"You have been sleeping  for a whole day, it's five in the after noon,"

I nodded sliding off the table "I need to see my friend-,"

"You can't," He gasped "The thirst will take over Athena, you'll feed on them-,"

"I will not," I let out a growl I never knew I possessed inside.

"That's what they all say, now look at you," he whispered.

I sobbed turning to the cross on the wall "Will he still love me, even though this was not my fault?" I cried
