It was the end of another day of work in the Survey Corps. Well, more like a day of relentless cleaning. Usually, the scouts were kept busy with training exercises, and, thanks to Eren, the occasional titan combat practice. But whenever they finished early and had nothing else to do, Levi would take it upon himself to give everyone chores.

Today had been one of those days. After training, all of the scouts were told to clean out the storage rooms of the castle. Except Eren, who was dragged away by an excited Hange before Levi could even protest. The job had taken hours, not including the times that Levi made them do it over because the cleaning wasn't up to "Levi Standards."

Despite the day's occurrences, dinner was the same as usual. The recruits laughed and talked about the day's activities. Sasha tried to steal other peoples bread while Connie went on about how Levi made him redo a whole room because he forgot to dust the windowsill. He even stood on the table crossing his arms and making a face that looked borderline constipated, doing his best Levi impersonation. The dining hall burst into laughter, even Christa couldn't help but giggle. Sasha managed to catch her breath first before saying "you're even the same height!" Causing Connie to lose his balance and fall off the table laughing, Sasha took the opportunity to steal his bread and run. The teens laughed even harder at her antics.

Everyone was laughing and joking with each other, just like old times at the training camp. It was like all the stress of the upcoming expedition had vanished. The dining hall was almost peaceful.

At least until Jean decided to open his mouth.

"So Jaeger, while we were working all day, you were being Hange's lab rat again?" Jean snorted, receiving glares from Mikasa and Armin. In between the two sat a seething Eren. Hange's experiments that day had been more arduous than usual. She had even gone as far as testing his regeneration abilities in both human and Titan form, leaving Eren exhausted. He wasn't in the mood to deal with Jean's bullshit today.

"Shut the hell up horse-face!" Eren barked back, slamming his fist down on the table. The temperamental teen was quickly losing the few nerves he had left. But of course, the taller boy kept running his mouth.

Jean smirked, seeing the anger in the others green orbs. "You know that's the only reason you got into the scouts right?" He said arrogantly. Eren felt his blood boiling. Armin put a hand on his back in an attempt to calm his childhood friend. It was futile as Jean kept going. "They're only using you as a weapon, most see you as more of a liability than an asset."

That did it. Before the arrogant teen even knew what was happening, the Titan shifter was upon him. Eren lunged at Jean, knocking him out of his chair and sending his plate across the table. The dish landed with a clatter, spilling its contents all over Connie. Eren looked up at the sound, his eyes widened. "Oh my god Connie! I'm so sorry!" He yelled; not seeing the spark of mischief that flashed in the shorter boys eyes. "I didn't mean to-" before Eren could finish, Connie bent his spoon back like a catapult and let go, sending a glob of mashed potatoes into the Titan shifters face. Eren wiped it off with his sleeve. Connie smirked back at him, reloading his spoon and standing up in his chair. "FOOD FIGHT!" Connie yelled before flinging the spoonful of food across the table, hitting Reiner square in the face.

Within minutes, the dining hall became a war zone. Food was sent flying in every direction, splattering against the floor and walls, tables were knocked over to be used as cover from the culinary battle. Christa and Armin took shelter under one of the few upright tables as the war raged on. Across the room, Jean had pinned Eren against a wall and was repeatedly punching him in the face. Eren grabbed the taller boys shirt collar and head butted him, sending Jean reeling backwards. Eren took this opportunity and shoved Jean over one of the downed tables, sending them both to the floor. Eren pinned the other boys elbows with his knees, looking down at him. The place where Jean had punched him steamed as it began to heal, anger flashed in his green eyes.

Amid the chaos, nobody heard the sound of the heavy wooden door creaking open.

Connie hid behind one of the tables, looking for something else to throw. On the other side of the table stood a grinning Sasha, a heaping spoonful of mashed potatoes in hand, waiting to strike. Connie grabbed a bread roll that was lying a few centimeters from the table and stood up to throw it. Sasha made her move, flinging the potatoes at her target before ducking behind another table. Connie acted quickly, dropping the bread and falling to the floor just in time to avoid the shot.

Sasha heard the potatoes hit their target on the other side of the table. She grinned triumphantly and looked out from her hiding spot, wanting to see the look on Connie's face. Her breath hitched; what she saw made her smile drop instantly.  A look of pure terror replacing her grin. At the door stood none other than Captain Levi, covered in mashed potatoes, giving her a glare that she was sure would make children cry. Upon noticing his arrival, the room fell deathly silent.

After what felt like hours of silence, Levi took a deep breath. "What. The. Fuck. is going on?" He growled out. A few pairs of eyes darted to the back of the room, where Jean had Eren pinned to the floor, blood evaporating off his fist from Erens bleeding nose. Everyone watched with bated breath as the Captain started towards the two teens. The two boys shrunk under his glare. Levi stopped a few centimeters from the duo and looked down at them. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath before speaking. "Jaeger, Kirstein, explain now." Despite his calm facade, Levi's anger was almost palpable. Practically rolling off him in waves.

The two rivals looked at each other with wide eyes, before Jean spoke up. "Sir, Jaeger is the one who-" Without warning, Levi grabbed the two by their collars and lifted them to their feet, knocking their heads together hard. "I DON'T CARE WHICH OF YOU SHITTY BRATS STARTED THIS!" Levi roared, making the two cower in fear. "BOTH OF YOU ARE GOING TO STAY AND CLEAN THIS UP! IF THIS ROOM ISN'T SPOTLESS BY THE TIME I COME BACK, YOU TWO WILL BE ON STABLE DUTY FOR THE NEXT THREE MONTHS!" At this point, the two scouts were hiding behind one of the tables, hoping it would somehow save them from the short man's wrath. With that, Levi ordered everyone to their rooms. As the last of the scouts filed out, he shoved mops into each of the boys hands and left, letting the door slam behind him. Leaving the two to clean.
