New Burkshire: Capital city, New Burkshire, is in utter shock at the massive landslide that struck the land on 29 December 2019 at around 2:34 pm. Over 300 ants were pronounced dead on impact and several thousand injured. Many government officials are included in the counts as the corporate city center is one of the collapsed buildings. It was a totally unanticipated calamity that measured 7.8 on the antcher scale. Originating from the corner of the 54 Antway, the landslide lasted for 2.47 minutes. The unforeseen nature of the disaster has the weather experts baffled. Most experts lean towards the possibility of an extra-terrestrial attack.
Rescue operations are still underway as the collapse is over 6 centimeter thick, requiring hefty machinery for clearing. The capital has requested the aid of Bertant armed forces for rescue operations. It is reported that over a hundred army ants have landed in the capital via spiderweb airdrop. Apart from the rescue resources, the army has brought in food supply as well.

The mayor has proclaimed a week of grieving, during which no official or corporate business will be carried out. The window is estimated to be sufficient for the duration of rescue operations. The mayor also pleaded for basic supplies and aids in any way, to restore the broken city. Considering the possibility of further attacks, all citizens are implored to seek refuge in the ant camps or in the neighboring cities. The cities of Frenantoch and New Turkshire have opened their doors to refugees. Many have hence fled the capital and several others stay back in hope to find their loved ones.
"We have no place to go. My 14 children have not eaten anything for over 30 hours now. We cannot even find where our house was" – A distraught father
"I cannot find my wife. She is missing and I have no clue if she is alive or dead" – Another panicked citizen wailed.
The Bertant Kingdom, as a whole, has seen 14 previous attacks like this in the past year. Though the rate is much minimal compared to surrounding nations, the attacks top in intensity. It was not long ago that the Capital released over 40 kg worth of sweet storage to the city of Perhamount when it was hit by the kitchen floods. The Kingdom expresses its concern for the city and will announce the allotted supply from the Antingdom funds via a press conference held today evening by Prime Minister Hank Masant.
Ironically, New Burkshire was marked as one of the safest places in Bertant Kingdom in 2018 survey. The capital saw a massive immigration rate since then. The capital had recently passed a saturation bill upon the state prohibiting any further migration. The bill was only partially effective as minor landslides in the surrounding cities of Queen Circle and Perhamount forced the authorities to accept citizens under asylum.

Whatever be the verdict on government analytics, all the city pray for is to not see a recurrence any time soon. There is no doubt in the capability of the authorities to rebuild the city. However, considering the current state of the capital, one cannot foresee a quick restoration.
