Olivia POV
I was woken by the sound of chirping birds as they landed on the branches above me. The last thing I remember was trying to take a nap in this really uncomfortable tree. I must've been out for a while... It was raining when I was looking for shelter so I thought this was as good as it was going to get, but its getting better I guess... its only drizzling now.
The sound of my tummy rumbling snapped me out of my thoughts. I haven't eaten in the past week, before that I hunted rabbits, frogs and birds but I can't find anything anymore, it's like they were running away. And not in the way they do when we're- when I'm hunting... it's like they think something is coming...
I'm starving right now and I need to find something to eat. I won't be able to go much longer if I don't...
So I started walking for the next hour...
I don't think I can go any further, not Being able to eat made my wolf crazy but I felt worse when I lost contact with her. I've become weak.
A familiar smell hit my nose just before I was about to head back. It drove me towards where ever it was coming from.
It smelled amazing, like something out of a dream. As I got closer I became even more aware of my hunger, not to mention I started drooling. After walking for at least 10 minutes
I saw a faint house in the distance, I could clearly smell that the scent was some sort of meat but I didn't care, all I could care about is that it was food.
As I got closer I realised some one had left the window open to an attack in an old, run down looking shack.
I was about to climb up to the window when I heard a loud thud from behind me. I turned around to see a little kid that looked a few years younger than me on the ground, a bunch of logs at his feet and his mouth wide open.
"...I-" he began but didn't finish.
"Shhhh!" I whisper/shouted.
He turned around and made a run for it.
"Fuck..." I mumbled under my breath.
I quickly got through the window and grabbed what looked like an over cooked chicken, but it still smelt like the best thing I would have eaten in the past few weeks... or months...
I quickly ran out the window and climbed back down, I could hear loud thunds and twigs breaking in the distance, people were chasing me...
After a while of running I was surprised to find I out ran them. All I could think about was this delicious smelling piece of meat in front of me, all thought now was this piece of meat (what ever it might of been) was looking alot like beef... yes... it was that burnt...
I had been stealing from this place for the past week, I've also explored a bit more around the area and it looks to be a few small broken houses and tents... like a rogue camp, and they won't be happy to see another rogue stealing their meals.
As much as the guilt is getting to me I'm all to happy to find that I'm back in touch with my wolf, Evilyn. Not to mention my energy is back. Making stealing from thid place, alot easier.
I'm planning to go back and get another meal before I head out to find some where else, they have increased their guards but left a small opening around their north-west boundary.
So thats where I'm heading...
It's a 40 minute walk from where I've been staying the last week so it didn't take long to get there.
Once I'm there I spot another house with their ugly looking piece of meat inside. Without taking any precautions I quickly make my way over, not caring of anyone see's.
'It's you're last time here anyway' Adeline, my wolf, adds.
I'm about to open (more like break open) the window and snatch it off a broken chair when I hear muffled voices, unfamiliar scents burn my nose.
'Run' Adeline pushes.
'Make up you're mind do you want this or should we just leave?' I argued.
I have a bad feeling about this...
'Just take it and-' she was cut off by someone grabbing me by my shoulder.
I kicked my leg back, making contact with their crotch and the loud groan confirmed it was a guy. He let go and I ran. Literally for my life...
I could hear fading footsteps in the back round getting farther and farther away. But I wouldn't stop running. Not now. I could hear them fading. More and more. But no. I'm not stopping... not now.
Not now. Not now. Those words... they kept repeating in my head. Over and over.
I couldn't stop thinking and I wasn't paying attention. I tripped over a goddamn branch and fell face first into leaves, and no it wasn't a soft landing.
I could hear the footsteps in the background getting closer, along with a few others as well as the same now familiar smells from earlier.
'Fuck' I winced as I tried to get up again, but my ankle gave out and I landed back down on the ground.
'Great... just fucking great! ...your clumsy ass is getting us caught!' Adeline growled as someone was pulling me up by my arm.
