PART 1

Friday morning was colder than usual. The previous day had been so warm that everyone was wearing shorts and t-shirts.

I wrapped my raincoat around me as I boarded the school bus full of loud noisy kids. Everyone had huge smiles on their faces except for myself, that is.

I have never liked field trips. No let me revise that, I hate field trips. I dislike having to go places I'm not used to and I hate it when all the kids in my class start bragging to the people that are supposed to show us around. I prefer being in a classroom, focused on the teacher but then again, you can't always get what you want.

Today for some reason I felt  something was going to go wrong, horribly wrong.

I scanned  the faces of my classmates looking for my best friend but, as always, she spotted me first. "Amy!", she exclaimed over all the chatter a bit too loudly.

All heads turned to look right at me. I quickly passed the seats not wanting to be embarrassed anymore.

"Are you excited?", Lila asked me with a big cheeky grin. Lila was my best friend, my only friend really and we're very close since we have known each other for so long.

"Can't wait, we're going to spend three whole days in the woods to learn about what, survival? Yeah, I couldn't be happier", I answered her sarcastically.

"Come on, it's not that bad!", she insisted while  giving me a pointed look.

I returned the favour with a you're-gonna-regret-this-until-your-dying-day look, but she shrugged it off.

The last pair of kids entered the bus and we were on our way to Adventure Forest, but for some reason I still felt uneasy and that wasn't a good thing.
