The quiet girl, the girl who you don't know if she just doesn't know the answer or can't speak. Everyone knows someone like this but stays away from them no matter how much we are drawn to that person. They intrigue and scare people around them at the same time. That girl has secrets and everyone knows that deep inside but they don't dare open Pandora's box. The things that might be in there might harm us or people we love. What we don't know is that I am that girl. The girl who sits in the back and never speaks a word. It's not because I'm stupid but instead because I have sworn allegiance to a "cult" that needs to keep their secrets. I have seen many people I called brothers and sisters die because they could not keep the secret. I have been sent to kill those who have heard the secret. Now I can't stay quiet anymore, especially with this idiot acting like some big shot. He's doing the project all wrong.

Okay, let me explain, in my science class we were put into groups of two or three, to build a small machine that runs on scrap food. And this guy is popular and thinks he can just do whatever he wants, also he's kinda smart. I'm paired up with him by myself meaning I talk or just follow what he says and fail the project. Nope, guess the only option is to talk, great.

"Why isn't this working! I bet this is your fault you are so stupid that you can't do simple tasks." he groans out in annoyance and flops back on some pillows that I had on my floor. He just called me an idiot in my own home, not happening. Nope, nope, nope!

"Are you done?" I roll my eyes grasping the model and begin to unbuild the exterior.

"Oh, she speaks!" he quickly sits up.

"Yeah, she stabs too." pointing the screwdriver at him I say. I really didn't like him at all, with his perfect dirty blond hair and shiny sea blue eyes. Damnit I hate his guts.

"Since you're undoing everything we did in the past hour you must have an idea, going to let your teammate in on that idea?" the weight on my shoulders increased slightly.

"You aren't my teammate you're my burden. Please remove your arm I already have weights on them right now," a very fake smile spread across my face as I lifted my head to take a look and his annoyingly placed arm. I really want to stab him in the shoulder, it won't hurt too much right?

"Well tell me your idea anyway Miss..... what's your last name again? No scratch that what is your name?" he pulls his arm away and leans in to look at me. "My name is Tala Jons." I roll my eyes and get back to work.

"That's a really nice name. What does it mean?"

"It is the name of the goddess of the stars in Tagalog mythology and translates to 'bright star'." I recite from memory. I love my name but I hate how many questions come with me saying it in my slight accent. I never really grew out of it from when I moved to America to get out of the slums.

"I'm Hyun Ki Griffin, in case you were wondering," I roll my eyes again and finally get the whole thing taken apart. I reach for my bag that was a distance of a foot away from me, "Nope, no bag for you till I get the plan of what we are doing for OUR project." looking up I see him holding my bag above his head. This dumb weeb. Ugh.

"Oh I'm sorry, now give me my bag before I stab you!" giving a closed-eyed smile I threaten. I really want to stab him right now.

"Y'know that's not what an apology sounds like right?" he hands me my bag and sits next to me so he can hear my idea.

"Bite me," I roll my eyes and unzip my bag to grab something.

"Could you be nice for like two minutes?" he questions as he holds up two of his fingers. I ignore him and set out some of the stuff I grabbed. I then start to flip through my notebook to find where I wrote down some ideas.

"I gave it some serious thought, but I'm afraid that's not possible," pushing my notebook in front of him as I start to point out the second idea and the most detailed one. I continue to start fixing the project. I yawned and tried not to close my eyes. I didn't have time for that thing normal people call sleep.

"We can't do this. It requires welding and I don't know how to do that. Plus I don't think we learned half of the information you referenced to get this idea," my neck cracked from how fast I turned my head. The flames spreading through my nerves. The need to stab something increased till without realizing it I had thrown the screwdriver. The thud of it hitting the wall broke my trance.

"Maybe calm down first. We don't need to fix your room after we fix the project." that smirk sent flashes of anger to every cell in my body. I stood up and quickly ripped the screwdriver out of my wall as I took a deep breath.

"First, you call me an idiot. Second, you start to question what I do. Third, you prove that you don't pay attention in class by not understanding at least the basics of my idea. And lastly, you tell me to fucking calm down. I don't fucking think so! If you want to actually help then, do what I say so we can get done with this project. If not then go home and I'll finish the project myself and all you have to do is say what is on the cards I give you next month. You choose!" all of my statements came out in a growl. I saw his face flash with fear and something else.

"I'll help just don't kill me," he whispered as I sat down and continue to build the inner workings.

"Can you please explain some of what we are doing?"

"Fine, we are going to create a machine that when something enters it, it will break it down with acid that is similar to the acid in your stomach. And will use the energy released to run and charge the battery," I explained as I continue to create the battery holder and connect wires were needed. I really wanted to fall asleep but I need to finish this first. Why did I have to be so smart that I felt that I was stupid for not sleeping?

"Go to sleep we have a month to do this project. And if you want I can build some of it. Your drawing has enough details for me to figure it out." Hyun Ki said as he took the parts out of my hands. I tried to stop him by taking it back but he quickly block my attempt. "Stop, I'm not tired I just stayed up doing work," I mumble and pout as I hit his arm to make him give me back the structure. I knew my energy wouldn't last very long.

"Where do you work? Probably somewhere really nice so you could afford a place like this," the question bothered me a little I know I'm supposed to lie now to stay alive. The thing is, I didn't have the energy to lie.

"Company XXC. I work in the regulation committee," the tug on my lips came up from just thinking of my job. The organization helped me a lot and gave me purpose and happiness.

"Wait! What!" that reaction caused me to realize what I actually did. I told someone a bit of our secret. Yes, everyone knows that the Company XXC was just a cover for the organization, but it was a sign that you need to be watched in case you told the real secret.

"You work there? That's so cool! I wish I could work in a place like that."

"I could ask if they are looking for any new hands, and if they are I could give them your application?" I mumble and look down at my hands, remembering the way I felt after my first mission.

"Could you, please!?" Hyun Ki smiled which kinda made him seem like a little puppy getting adopted. So, I just burst into a fit of laughter, "Hey, it's not funny. My mom's been on my ass to get a job lately." and there was the pout that I knew he would give. I shook my head and snickered for a bit.

"Yeah, just give me your application tomorrow in science, okay?" I lean back on my hands and look at my ceiling smiling to myself.

"Okay, cool." he laughs and I join in. How can someone go from hating a person one minute to laughing for no reason the next? I decided it might be a good idea to take a little nap so I can pay attention in class tomorrow. I lay back onto two of my pillows and close my eyes.

"Night." is the last thing I hear before drifting off.
