The bells chimed softly against the wall as Blake entered the shop, ears doing their best to flatten underneath her bow in annoyance at the large group of people exiting the restaurant. Tugging on her leather jacket, she began to push her way through the people looking for a table on the ground floor. It was around 5 o'clock, making the journey between tables nearly impossible as babies cried or food slipped a waiter's grasp and splattered onto the floor. Had she known the crowd would be this bad, she would've arrived earlier but for now, she can only shift her weight to her toes, struggling to make out the edges to the 2nd level stairs at the back of the restaurant over a broad man's shoulder.

Making a shadow copy of herself a little ways ahead, she pushed her way across the dark wooden floor and through the crowd, occasionally making the hanging light blow in the breeze or the dark wooden tables shake from the brush of her hip, but she reached her destination. She gripped the railing of the circle stairs, sighing in relief before vaulted over it with ease onto the 3rd or 4th stair. She looked back and forth, expecting someone to say something to her, but her feat remained unnoticed as she shrugged and began to go up the stairs. Her fingers brushing against the railing for the improbable occasion where she did fall as she got lost in thought.

This would be the first time Ruby and she ever went out without the buffer of Yang's terrible jokes or Weiss's cold honestly to move the conversation forward. It wasn't like they had never been alone together (when you live in the same room together that tends to occur), but their conversations were short and unfulfilling at best. When they do talk, they tend to lean towards the topic of books or strategy, but that conversation can only last so long until it fizzles out and they stare at the ground around them, becoming awkward once more.

She would stay silent if she thought Ruby would be okay with that, but most people do not like silence. It gives you too much time to think about terrible things.

Shuddering as her feet touched the upper deck, she crossed her arms over her waist and scanned the area hoping to find an empty table at first glance. Of course, life doesn't work like that, so she sighs as she steps further into the room. This part of the restaurant is quieter than its counterpart, the lights giving the room an orange glow as she passed by other people's conversation. Blake stops her laughter with her hand as a boy a couple of tables over to the right talks about his fear of needles, but otherwise, the search for a table remains fruitless.

She pulled out her phone and hesitantly opens her messages while walking over to the corner of the room, intending to send her a message saying that there were no seats left and they should go somewhere else. Ruby is never early for anything, even if she called for a team-related meeting, so she figures she caught her in enough time. However, timing has never been on her side.

"Blaaaaake!" Ruby shouted, quickly bringing her mind back to the present time as the other girl made her way towards her.

Her cape latched onto a neighboring chair, making the girl frown at it and pull her cape a couple of times to get it to release its grip. It was only after this was accomplished that Ruby bounced her way over to Blake and pushing herself up onto her tiptoes to pull her into a hug, making Blake stiffen in surprise. Ruby, noticing the tension in the other girl's body immediately released, giving her a soft smile in apology as she stepped back to a respectable distance.

"I had been calling your name for a while," Ruby groaned playfully as she gestured in the general direction of their table, "but you were so caught up in your head that you didn't hear me,"

"Sorry," Blake muttered, head down slightly in embarrassment as they made their way back towards the table Ruby had reserved. Ruby only shook her head in response, a frown marring her usually happy demeanor as she rounded their table and turned to face Blake once more.
