Born in the body of Katharine
Growing up as 'Kat'
Everyone saw a girl
But Kat was a boy
He liked the shorter name
Liked how he was called a tomboy
Liked playing with the boys
Liked roughhousing
Kat grew up though
He found that people didn't see things the way he did
Didn't understand why 'girls' like him couldn't go shirtless
Why he couldn't go in the mens bathroom with Dad
Why 'girls' got dolls
And boys got action figures
Labeled tomboy
Forced to grow up a girl
To shed the boys uniform
To put on skirts
He didn't understand puberty
Why he didn't feel right
Why he didn't recognize his reflection
Bigger boobs, more skirts, makeup cake on
That would make him feel better
Kat thought he was doing good
Switched schools
Dressed more as he pleased
But he was more depressed than ever
Why?
Why didn't things get fixed?
He now had big boobs
Cool clothing
Makeup
He was pretty
He looked bad ass
But he looked at a stranger
And he was more depressed than ever
He didn't understand
Transgender
A friend fed up with him not noticing
Spelled it out
He was unsure
So he set out to research
Kat found to many similarities to ignore
But denied it anyway
"Just a phase"
He thought
But the more he noticed
The less possible it was to ignore
Transgender
He accepted the term
Started slowly changing
Chose a new name
For people couldn't see Kat as a boy
With his name intact
Too feminine for them to believe him
Kit, maybe?
No
Kat would now be Conner
The name he should have been given
Slowly Conner started being happy
Accepting his reflection
But other people weren't as happy for him
So Conner grew quickly in those months
Realized who he was
Regained feeling
Conner grew up for the second time in his life
He grew up into Kage
Smart
Sarcastic
An ass
But himself
Kage could smile and laugh
And appreciated who he was
But others still didn't
Actions filled with confusion and denial
Disgust and anger
So now I sit
Broken
Known only by a few
As the boy named Kage
