Whispers

Whispers poured into my ear

Telling me I'm not good enough

Telling me I have everything to fear

You can't do anything they say

You're pathetic they scream

They knock down the pillars that support me

Decimate my foundations

Destroy my scaffolding

So that I collapse inward destroying myself

But this whispers don't stop there

The whispers worm their way in

They make sure I can't can't back up

They drown out my screams

And pleas for help

You aren't talented

You aren't strong

You'll never be a boy

You'll never lead

Give up now

Throw up the white flag

Surender you're hopes and dreams

And maybe then live a comfortable life

But shouts cut through the whispers

That people shove into my head

That are making my mind foggy

Shouts from those who encourage me

Tell me I know better than that

And sure it lasts for a while

Till the whispers come back again
