Rowing down the river with my sibling and Trumpkin, I couldn't help but feel sad. The Deep Magic is here, as present as it has always been, but the Narnians and trees have retreated into themselves so much it's as if they have no life.
"They're so still." Lucy voiced my thoughts.
"They're trees what did you expect." Trumpkin grumbled.
"They used to dance." I told him.
"It wasn't long after you left that the Telmarines, and the Narnians fled into the woods. And the trees, they retreated into themselves so deep that they haven't been heard from since." Trumpkin explained.
"I don't understand. How could Aslan let this happen?" Lucy whispered.
"Aslan? Thought he abandoned us when you lot did."
"We didn't mean to leave you know." Peter told him.
"Well it doesn't make much of a difference now does it." Trumpkin grunted.
"Get us to the Narnians and it will." I spoke up. Pulling the boat to shore I overheard Lucy speaking to someone.
"Hello there." Turning around I saw bear. "It's alright, we're friends.
"Don't move your majesty!" Trumpkin called to her. Looking back at us Lu didn't see the bear running after her.
"Get away from her!" Susan yelled drawing back her bow. Lucy started running to us when she saw the bear coming towards, but she tripped.
"Shoot Susan, shoot!" I yelled at her. An arrow went flying, but not from Susan. It was Trumpkin.
"Why wouldn't he stop?' Susan whispered in horror.
"I suspect he was hungry." Trumpkin stated walking towards Lucy.
"Thanks." Lucy whispered to our new friend when Peter pulled her up.
"He was wild." I said astonished.
"I don't think he could talk at all." Edmund put in.
"Get treated like a dumb animal long, then that's what you become. You may find Narnia a more savage place than you remember."Trekking through the woods I couldn't help but feel as if we were going the wrong way.
"I don't remember going this way." I called out to Peter.
"That's the problem with you girls. You can't carry a map in your head." He joked.
"Well that's because our heads have something in them." Susan laughed.
"I just wish he would've listened to the D.L.F in the first place." I told the girls.
"D.L.F?" Trumpkin and Edmund questioned.
"Dear Little Friend." Lucy smiled.
"Oh because that's not all patronizing is it?" Trumpkin muttered to Edmund making him laugh.
"I'm not lost." Peter said as we came to a dead end.
"No." Trumpkin called as he jumped from a rock. "You're just going the wrong way."
"You said the last place you saw Prince Caspian was in the Shuddering Wood, well the fastest way there is through River Rush." Peter snapped.
"Well unless I'm mistaken, there is no crossing in these parts." Trumpkin retorted.
"Well that explains it then. You're mistaken!" Peter all but growled.
"Peter!" I snapped. "There is no need to be rude. He is just trying to help!"
