With Or Without You

Spencer and Ben had been together and inseparable for the last 3 years. Minus their time apart during their summers, they spent most of their free time together. The two met at Boston University on their very first day of classes freshman year. Ben was a performing arts major. Spencer was pre-law and on the women's hockey team. Spencer was born and raised in Michigan. Ben was born and raised in Dorset, England.

It had been 3 years since that day in History 101. Spencer and Ben were now entering their senior year of college. They had both just returned to Boston. Ben had moved into a new apartment. Ben and Spencer had split the summer between the states and England. Ben spent 2 weeks with Spencer's family in Michigan at their summer beach home. Spencer spent 2 weeks with Ben's family in Dorset. They spent the remainder of the summer with their own families. This is how they spent every summer for the last 3 summers.

Things were about to change for the two of them. It was a new school year, their last year of undergrad. After graduation, Spencer would be going to law school in Detroit. Ben would be traveling back to England where he was set to be in the theatrical production of The Judas Kiss. Their lives couldn't be leading up to something more opposite.

Ben walked into his first day of classes at Boston University with very low expectations. He had an 8am class on Tuesday/Thursday mornings. He walked in to History 101 ten minutes before class began. There, in the third row, was the most magnificent girl he had ever seen. She was absolutely breathtaking and Ben couldn't stop staring. She had gorgeous, shoulder-length blonde hair, the most captivating green eyes, no makeup, and she was perfect. Ben couldn't pass up this opportunity. He, as confidently as he could, walked over to where she was sitting.

"Is anyone sitting here?" He asked, casually pointing to the empty aisle seat next to her.

"Yes... you." She confidently replied with a smile.

Ben couldn't get enough of the confidence she radiated in that moment. Attractive and confident? She had to be too good to be true... He sat down beside her and set his bag on the floor. He pulled out a notebook and a pencil.

He looked over at her and introduced himself, "Hi, I'm Ben." He offered his hand out to her.

She took his hand and gave a firm handshake. "Nice to meet you, Ben. British, huh?" She gave him a cheeky grin.

He grinned, smiling with a half smile. "Yes, actually. I'm sorry, I don't think I caught your name?"

He was grinning from ear to ear. If she could be cheeky, so could he.

"I'm Spencer, but most people just call me Spence." She smiled back at him.

"Nice to meet you, Spence." Ben said as the professor started class. "Guess that's our cue to be quiet."

Ben grabbed his wallet and keys and walked out of his apartment. He hopped in his car and drove to Spencer's on-campus apartment. He parked the car and walked inside. Spencer jumped when he knocked at her door. She quickly opened the door.
