When a heart learns to beat for someone, it never stops. It begins with an instant little flutter at the sight of a beautiful face, a minor one that you question whether was a mistake, a physiological blunder of some sort.
So you watch him more, you run your gaze over his skin, his face, his actions, the way he talks to you or interacts with those around you. And suddenly, you find that same reaction in your heart happens again when he smiles at you, that kind of smile that reaches the eyes, the kind that beckons you closer to him. Over and over again it comes. And that's when you realize your heart races for a very specific reason.
Your heart beats for K.
And when that realization comes, everything suddenly becomes so clear, like finally emerging for your first breath from an ocean of unanswered questions and doubts. As you both walked side by side back to your apartment, you smiled to yourself.
What was this called?
Ah yes, falling. Falling for someone. It felt like it had been so long since you've experienced innocent fluttering of the heart.
K had offered to walk you home, as predicted of a prince. If you could spend just a little more time with him through that travel, that was all you wanted.
YH: "Did you have fun?" he asked with a grin.
You nodded.
"A lot. You were right – I really did need that."
He nodded.
YH: "Good. I'm glad."
"Thank you, Yong Hoon, for being my prince tonight."
He bit his lip to refrain from revealing a smile that was far more zealous than what was appropriate.
In hopes of seeing his brilliant grin, you glanced at him nervously before reaching for his hand. He smiled shyly as he readjusted his hand so that your fingers intertwined comfortably. Blushing, looking at and away from each other with smiles that had corners filled with laughs about to break free, it was like you were both in love.
After gradually slowing down and reaching the door to your apartment, came the part you dreaded and were excited for the most. Without haste, you stepped from his side to face him to say your goodbye.
"Well, this is my apartment..."
YH: "I guess this is goodbye?" he smiled with a slight hint of sadness in his slightly upturned eyebrows.
Your hands were still connected, but only by the fingertips, your eyes still keeping a hold of each other in place. Even a blind man could see that it was so obvious that neither of you wanted to take even one more step away from each other.
To simply say farewell, to give a handshake, a hug, a kiss on the cheek? You weren't sure what K was thinking either since he simply continued to look at you with that same innocence and sincerity, not moving anything more than his eyes that seemed to scan every inch of your face into his memory.
Your lips gravitated towards his because, in this moment, it seemed the right thing to do. Your hands held his cheeks gently, lips caressing his. He breathed in deeply, circling his arms around your waist. While the first kiss you both shared was just pressing lips carefully against each other, this one was more. It was about feeling the presence of the other by embracing all that one was, is, and can be. Lips brushing against each other like letting the petals of budding flowers meet, and wisps of air in between exchanging the flows of toe-curling excitements emitting from your bodies. With your first move, he deepened the kiss, pulling you closer against him.
