But you were greeted with a cool breeze after opening the door at the top of the stairs. As you walked forward, you realized you were at the rooftop and froze in amazement, shocked by the beautiful view of the twinkling city-scape before you. The skyscrapers stood tall all around, and the sounds of speeding cars created most of the background noise. The space on the roof was plenty, and it seemed that others had discovered this place too since there were a couple of wooden chairs with a short, rounded table in between placed farther out.

YH: "Neat, huh?"

The waiter gestured you over to seats and you both fell into them comfortably. Even the chairs on the roof had cushions.

YH: "It's cold tonight, so you should drink up."

This boy certainly knew how to make the most perfect beverages. Sweetened, but not overly sweet, and the chocolate taste was rich and soothing as the liquid warmed you from your lips down to your stomach. Just like yesterday, the drink seemed to lighten your mood despite all that had happened.

"Thank you."

YH: "I hope it makes you feel a bit better... Do you like the roof? It's my favourite place to empty my mind."

"Do you usually bring people up here?"

You noticed the two chairs.

YH: "No, just myself. I keep an extra chair here so it doesn't feel as lonely, haha."

"Is it because it's so high up that you feel lonely?"

For a coffee shop that didn't seem that tall, this roof had a pretty nice view.

YH: "It's a bit isolating. Nobody comes up here. It's not actually that high up, well... I mean, still high enough for someone to die from I guess... B-but that's not the point. I just come up here to avoid people sometimes."

"Do people annoy you?"

YH: "Haha, no. I just need some time alone sometimes. You see people working in the service industry all the time. Cashiers, clerks, salesmen and women, waiters and waitresses like myself... We're everywhere! And if we do the job right, we're smiling and being friendly all the time. The majority of customers take that for granted. It's expected of us to maintain this kind of image, but it's really draining. By the end of the day, you just want to shut off. So that's why I come up here once in a while."

"Don't your coworkers come up here for a breather too then?"

YH: "They probably deal with their stress in a different way. I prefer to come up here with some tea or coffee. Or hot chocolate," he added with a laugh and nod at your cup.

"I hope I'm not intruding-"

YH: "Not at all. You seem just as tired as I am. I'm willing to share," he chuckled. "Do you feel better?"

This guy was a good guy; you could tell from his vibe. He genuinely seemed like he wanted to help cheer you up. Though a bit round-about in his methods, it was effective and so you felt a little more willing to talk now. And while you may not usually share your private matters with others, asking advice from a kind stranger didn't seem so bad – at least in a vague manner.

"Please excuse me for being rude, but have you ever been in a relationship?" you asked.

He was a little shocked at how forward you were.

YH: "Uh... Yeah. Why?"

"Did you love each other?"

YH: "I suppose we did."
