chapter 1

Rain was pouring down on me, as i tried to wrap my soaked sweater even tighter around my body. It had been almost 4 days since my parents told me they'd be gone for 5 minutes, and never returned. My stumach was growling in hunger, as i struggled to keep moving. A car pulled up next to me, and revealed a young woman as the door opened.

"Hey, do you need a ride home, sweety?"

"I-I don't have a home. B-But thanks."

"Well, is there somewhere i can take you? A hotel?"

"I can't p-pay. They didn't l-leave me any money."

It was a struggle to talk, as my teeth kept chattering from the cold i had.

"Who didn't?"

"My parents."

"Just get in? I bet we can set you up with something."

The backdoor opened now, and thankfully, i climbed in, being surrounded by the comfort of heat and a soft car seat. The door closed once again, and the rather large car made it's way on the road again.

"So," The woman lookd in the backmirror at me, with a small smile."What's your name?"

"Moon."

She nodded, looking impressed."That's a very special name."

"Well... I had very special parents."

"Did something happen to them?" 

I softly shrugged, looking down at my dirty hands."I have no clue. They just dropped me off a few miles away from here around 4 days ago. they said they'd be gone for only five minutes, but... never came back."

A frown formed on her face, as she looked back at me."That's a horrible thing that happened to you. I'm very sorry."

My gaze was still focused on my hands on my lap, untill i felt a warm hand on my shoulder. A boy with funny coloured hair looked at me, sending me a soft smile.

"I'm very sorry too. I couldn't imagine my parents leaving me."

A soft smile formed on my face, and i nodded.

"Thank you for your sympathy. And taking me in your car, i was absoluteley freezing out there."

The boy nodded, his eyes becoming wider.

"Yeah, i can imagine that. I'm freezing at this very moment, in this car. And it's even colder out there, so yeah..."

He smiled, and looked out of his window again.

"So, Moon," The woman turned around a bit, slightly smiling.

"Do you have a place to stay?"

"I already walked back to my house once. Everything was empty, and i couldn't get in. But i think the park's still open. I've done that the past 3 nights too, it's better than the streets."

She shook her head."I'm not letting you sleep on a bench on the parc, while we have a spare bed in our house. You can stay with us."

Michael shrugged."She means an inflatable mattras, if you don't mind ofcourse. You can always sleep in my bed, and i will-"

"No, you can have the bed. I'm already very thankfull for a roof over my head for the night."

"Yeah..."The woman nodded."We'll see if it's just for the night. If we get along well, than i can't see why you can't stay. Michael's out all the time, with his band, so..."

I frowned, as i looked at him."A band?"

He nodded."You never heard of 5 seconds of summer?"

I shrugged, shaking my head."Nope. But i will if  i get the chance to go to a record store."
