They say that the hardest part of going to college is the day of that you move in, something about the fear of leaving a familiar, safe, comforting environment to go to a new place sets off some unsettling reaction in your brain...They call it "emotions" apparently and honestly, it sounds gayer than I am. Hi, my name is Xander Chester Smith and today I move off to college.
"Cockadoodle dooooo" my alarm sounded. At that very moment I realized that I was finally going to get out of this shitty-ass county once and for all. It's 4:00am on the most important day and all I can think about is the happiness that I'm going to feel watching my family leave from my dorm later that day. I frantically tried to pack all of my belongings, I felt the sadness vibe that lingered in the house. For some weird-ass reason everyone was sad that I was leaving for college, maybe it was because I was the only one who actually made it to college? I don't know nor did I care, right now all that mattered was my happiness.
As I watched my family leave my dorm, I felt weird. I wanted to be away from them but at the same time I didn't know anyone at all. I was a stranger in this new chapter of my life and it was...depressing. I had so much freshman orientation to do but nobody to do it with. My roommate, Phil, was OK I guess. The whole day was filled with nothing but emptiness, bedtime couldn't come fast enough. "Do you wanna go with me to my best friend, Cat, dorm?" Phil said in a inviting voice. "Sure" I had nothing else to do and sometime around campus would certainly allow me to make friends, right? As we approached Cat's dorm, I felt nervous. I wasn't scared because I loved meeting new people but at the same time I don't. Cat had two other girls in her dorm, Emma and Jupiter. Jupiter was quite and kept to herself while Emma, on the other hand, was the exact opposite. We played Uno and of course but overall it was great being around new people. "Today was OK I guess" I thought to myself while walking back to my hell(My dorm). I had went to the cafe by myself after we played uno. The cafe wasn't too bad, It had good food and seemed to be really well kept. I shouldn't of ate as much as I did though because climbing the 3 flights of stairs of Hell was not something to do on a full stomach. I entered my suite to find Jupiter standing outside one of my suite-mates room talking to him. We talked some more for a bit and made some gay-ass jokes(She's lesbian, surprised? Neither was I). It was at that very moment, that the gay joke was made, that I knew that this was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. The rest of the night went well. We played more Uno and then went to sleep. Overall, the day was...actually better than I expected.
