Cas had always been more like her mother from her father's perspective, from the few weeks he knew Cas. Not only in looks but in personality. Cas was eccentric and rather optimistic like her mother, and the exact opposite of Rick Sanchez. Yet, she could be serious and rather brutally sarcastic when she wanted to. She was incredibly smart like her father but rarely ever used the intelligence she was gifted with. Instead, Cas relied on the other abilities she had been gifted with from her mother.

Her mother's planet was home to many different people with many different abilities. A home of mutants, you could say. Her mother had been one of those and Cas had inherited the gene, her father had told her. Her green hair and eyes matched the green wispy energy that would lick at her hands when in use. While her father stated her abilities were similar to that of magnet, Cas was no stranger to attempting to push the boundaries. Her abilities extended to any form of magnetic and electrical fields, including electromagnetic manipulation. She was constantly finding loopholes in her abilities, including manipulating the electromagnetic energy around things to mimic telekinesis or using it as a form of shield.

Her father knew Cas' abilities would only intrigue Rick Sanchez, giving her an in to pay his debt.

The girl looked back over towards Rick Sanchez, who was now staring at her. "Hiya, darlin'!" Cas said, immediately beginning her path up the driveway. Rick was quick to raise one side of his unibrow at the girl, though didn't bother to pause his work.

"C-can I help you?" Rick asked, his voice slightly strained like he was holding back a burp. His eyes were quick to land on the girls wild hair color and style but moved back to her face as he smiled.

"I'm Cassiopeia Pines, daughter of Stanford," She said and Rick dropped his tools quickly. It was a name he hadn't heard in years and even then his interactions with Stanford were limited and usually didn't have much time for small talk. "Please call me Cas though. My father sent me here to pay whatever debt he owes you. He didn't tell me what but I guess it's nice he trusted me with it!" She smiled widely and Rick could already tell he'd hate the girl.

"Fantastic," He burped out, not even bothering to move from the girls face. Her nose wrinkled up at the smell but she said nothing. "Just consider *burp* the debt paid and get out of my garage," He shrugged and turned back to his work but not after pulling a flask out and taking a long sip.

"No can do, Mr. Sanchez," Cas said, pushing her green hair from her eyes. "Dad says I might be in interest you and your work!"

"How?" He scoffed only for the tool in his hand to be pulled from his hand. After a moment of realization, he looked over to see the girl hold the tool, a mass of green energy around her fingers. "I see how now," He commented.

"To sum it up before you ask a dozen questions that I don't want to answer, I'm basically a human magnet. Electromagnet to be more precise, I suppose," She said, the tool floating in the mass of green wisps above her palm. Her fingers moved intricately as she smiled at him a bit smugly. "So, when do I start?"

"Never," Rick said and went to grab the tool but it was pulled back before he could.

"Unfortunately, I'm forced to pay my fathers debts while he goes on some monster hunting trip with my uncle. We're both in a pickle here, Mr. Sanchez," She said. "It's easier to just let it play out and suck it up, if you ask me."

"Yeah, I don't do adventure with chicks, sweetie." Rick mumbled, pulling the tool from her magnetic grasp. She huffed and rose one eyebrow.

"Yeah cause my tits and vagina prevent me from doing so much. At least I don't crumple to a ball when I get hit in my crotch," She snapped. Cas didn't bring up the gaze she felt as Rick didn't hide the fact that he blatantly glanced down at her breasts. Though a part of her was thankful her jumpsuit was unzipped to show a bit of her cleavage. "Just admit it, Mr. Sanchez, I could be useful to you." Cas folded her arms, realizing just how correct her father was he called Rick cold and rude.

It was then the door to the garage opened and a blonde had poked her head to see Rick and Cas. "Oh, I didn't know you had a friend over, Dad," The blonde said and Cas rose an eyebrow.

"Yeah, not a friend. More like a nuisance," He shrugged.

"Cassiopeia Pines, but please call me Cas," The green haired girl smiled brightly, holding a hand out to the blonde. "I'm not a friend yet but I'm gonna be helping your dad out with his 'work' for a while!" The blonde smiled brightly at Cas' energy. Immediately, she hoped Cas would be a better influence on her father's poor attitude.

"Beth Smith," The blonde introduced herself. "Are you staying for dinner?" Rick groaned at that and went to speak but Cas spoke first.

"Oh I shouldn't impose," Cas smiled. "Plus, Rick and I have much to discuss about our newfound partnership."

"I never agreed that," Rick butted in, crossing his arms and Cas threw him a glare before. Beth gave an unreadable look towards her father before leaving the garage with one last goodbye towards Cas. "Alright, get out now," He burped our, pointing to the motorcycle she rode in on. Cas huffed, the air causing a strand of her wild hair to blow out of her face. "I told you, I don't do adventures with chicks."

"Well, you do now," Cas grinned, taking the flask from his hand and downing the rest of it with out a problem. It burned greatly but Cas didn't let that show.

"Fine, w-whatever," Rick rolled his eyes, swiping the flask back and turning back to his desk. "It's your funeral, Pines."

"I highly doubt that, Mr. Sanchez."

*okay. okay. this is an update from wayyyy after the book was finished. this is a complete story but i just want to put a disclaimer before that it does end on a cliffhanger(?). i had full intents of a second book but just didn't follow through with it and have no current intents of doing so. just reiterating, THERE IS NOT AND WILL NOT BE A SECOND BOOK. i just wanted to make sure that was known cause i understand how frustrating it is to find a book and then have it be incomplete. just a warning! also, adding this as well but i just need to mention her that cas and rick are not always a healthy relationship and that becomes very obvious at certain points during their stories. both of them acknowledge this and that's a a whole arc explored in this story. they are not healthy. they are exceptionally toxic at some parts. no relationship with rick or someone like rick would ever be healthy. do not strive to be like them and read with caution.
anyways. thank you for reading and i hope you enjoy!
