The gunshot exploded through the air, bursting her eardrums and making her fall back and off the cliffs, into the freezing water below.
She should be dead.
And sometimes, she wishes she died that day. ___________________________________________
Her name is Lillian Henson.
She grew up in an extremely religious family, some would say they were a bit on the extreme side, but they were her family, and Lily loved them.
However one day, things changed.
Lily began to feel... Different, once she turned ten.
Different. But powerful.
She could light fires in her hands, move things with her mind, and if she focused hard enough on a location, she would suddenly find herself in that location. She was so happy, and like most children, she wanted to impress her family with her powers.
She was a child. She had no idea what they would do.
When she lit a fire in her hand. Her family looked horrified, and before she even knew what was happening she was grabbed by her father and dragged to a cliff not too far from her house.
As if things couldn't get any worse, he started screaming at her. He spoke in a language she didn't understand, crying and screaming before he got out his gun.
He told her she was evil.
He told her he had to do this to save her soul.
He was crying the entire time.
He was going to shoot her.
She took a step forward and that's when she heard the bang.
The shock sent her staggering back as an exploding pain spread from her shoulder to her entire body, making her fall.
She blacked out, only thinking of a beach that she and her family used to go to.
When she woke up she was on that beach surrounded by concerned citizens, but she ignored them. Even as they were taking her to a hospital, she ignored them.
Why?
Because she finally understood something;
Her family tried to kill her.

She's a witch, she knows this.
People have called her vile things in the past, but she never cared, their insults just made her stronger.
She's going to prove them all wrong. She'll be the best, most amazing witch in the world, and she's going to do great things.
She may be a witch, but she's not typical.
