"Prince Damon, prince Damon wake up"
"Go away" I replied as I pulled the blanket over my head. Waking up this early in the morning sucks, its not like I had any chores.
Eat sleep stroll
That is my daily routine. I enjoyed doing that and I didn't care what people thought of me, I'm done caring about what anybody says. One thing I learnt in life is that people will always talk, either you do good or bad, nobody cares.
Anyway.. Back to the 'she' that's annoying my sleep.
"Damon please you father requests your presence in his chambers this instant" she said
"Well... tell my father that I said its still early"
"On the contrary it's actually not"
"I didn't ask for your opinion maid"
"My orders are from the king 'prince', she retorted
"Being a smart mouth now are we, what time is it anyway"?
"Its... Its eleven thirty prince"
I quickly pulled the blanket off my head and glared at the maid in utter disbelief. She kept her eyes glued to the floor and suddenly found a great interest in her fingers. My gaze shifted to the ridiculously humongous clock nailed to the purple painted walls of my bedroom. Yep surely it was eleven thirty.
"Well...I will be up in two hours, its too early to get out of bed" I told
"But he"
"You may go" I added while cutting her off.
Anna as the always ooooh so loyal my foot servant obeyed and started walking the opposite direction but then stopped when she reached the door.
"Oooh and Damon" Anna said as she turned around giving me a mischievous glare. I new better than to relax around this girl.
"Wh..what"
The grin on her face grew as she reached inside her ugly looking maiden outfit.
************************************
Let's just say I found myself in the hallway headed towards my father's chambers in less than fifteen minutes. Anna had took the liberty of pulling out her wand and cast a simple evil spell that forced a barrel of water to pop up on top of my head and vomit all its contents right on top of sleepy me. To add onto that she let it fall right on my head.
"What an imbecile". I muttered to my self as I placed a soft knock on my father's door. The dusty dark door was made from a mixture of pine and the enchanter, I always thought it was kinda odd to call it that merely because the tree itself is enchanted, 'how stereotype I thought to myself.
The door flung open and I was greeted by the smell of ginger tea and spices.
I took a few strides inside and took a quick look around the room to find it completely absent of my father. Quills and parchments were on the table busy writing themselves off of whatever was in that old man's mind.
I quietly made to one of the desks hoping to read one of them only to be caught right in the act.
" mhmm" clears throat
"Father............ I hear you requested my presence". Startled me croaked
" Took you long enough, and where are your manners Henry". The man barked while taking a seat behind his huge desk. 'Henry', that's what he called me when he was annoyed and he did that pretty much every time .
"Sorry father, how are you this morning".
The man in front of me gave me a stern look that made me shift where I stood. I felt like he was stripping me, argh.
" Next month you will be turning nineteen", he began,"and as the heir to the throne our customs demand that you start your shifting practice to prove that you really are of the Phoenix descendants". The man said dryly keeping his eyes glued to his work.
"I understand father" I replied quickly
On a side note I really did. You see everyone in this place has a mark on their shoulder, either three twisted arrows facing upwards or an eye etc. My sister was a fyro represented by three arrows and being a Pheonex made her a will shifter which she could already do now. Me on the other hand had no mark at all which mearnt I had no specialty but being a Pheonix gave me an exception. I had to shift at 16 which I was doing so well seeing as I am about to turn 19 and ....
"Failure to that the position will be handed down to your sister who has surpassed you in everything I can come to think of, don't bring me more shame than you already have", he said while looking up at me for a moment before looking back down at his work.
The look just read 'I hope you fail just like your mother'.
I nodded and took my leave pausing by the door while looking at the picture of my father glued to my little half-sister on the wall the left far end of the room.
Letting out a dragged sigh my legs dragged me out of this dark room down the corridor.
" Breakfast, I need breakfast".
