Summary

Twenty-two-year-old Annika Deckler lives a life that's not her own. Annika's always felt somewhat trapped. Governed by familial duty and a daunting destiny that was thrust upon her. Free to fly as far and as fast as she dare. Yet bound by chains no one but Annika herself could see.

Every night Annika would dream of simpler times. Times before her powers. Before she had to lug around this heavy weight of responsibility. Until the day Annika decided to become a mom. Suddenly her life was filled with a new sense of purpose.

Gone were the days when Annika dreamed to leave her destiny behind. Now Annika lived her life for her son. Annika had become content with her role in life. Annika no longer wished to be rid of the things that kept her grounded. Though fate had other plans for the heroine it would seem.

After a freak accident Annika is once again left uprooted. Before her life hadn't been her own. Now it was slipping through her fingers before her very eyes. Can Annika accept the fact that she could be dying? What will Annika's death do to those around her? What is Annika going to tell her son?

And more importantly if there is a way for Annika to take her life back, would she even want to?

Epigraph

"When we were growing up there all sorts of people telling us what to do when really what we need is space to work out who to be."
