Herald, in search of omnipotence, part 2

Start from the beginning

Then came farming, and things really started to pick up. A surplus of food meant more and more horfs going to church buildings, a religious elite became established, as well as a monarchy, both of whom held great control over the farms, and livestock. Different religions came, in number and diversity all around the world. Herald was among them, remembering most things, if a little fuzzily.

But then, new technology stopped coming, they still thought of and solved problems yes, but most of it was refining old technology, better farming practices, paper production, building methods. But no industrial or scientifique revolution came. It stopped with a sort of proto-printing press, allowing religious texts to be copied over and over. Almost all of the thinking went into the religions, they became more complex, more compelling, stories of great triumph, love, hate, life, and death. And it just didn't stop. More gods, more practices, more stories.

At some point the idea of the soul really started to take hold, it started slowly, a general acceptance of horf being more, but became more central and more complex as the generations went on. At some point, it was like a switch flipped in one of the horfs head, and, standing before a large crowd, he created a small light in the palm of his hand. After that more things started happening, more people created light, their abilities grew becoming able to lift small objects, than medium ones, than large ones, speaking telepathically, reading thoughts and emotions. Then, they entered the final step to enlightenment. They began gaining knowledge as a power. It was small at first, predicting events, being able to write individual words they had not yet learned, but then, children started writing in languages of other alien races. And soon, they became aware of the other plane.

Herald was one of those people, he to become aware of this plane, along with around a billion others. As their knowledge grew, so did his, and eventually he discovered how to ascend, and by extension discovered exactly why he could not. By this time the species he had spent so many millennia with became aware of his true intentions, his true nature, and he did theirs. One day a representative of the ruling elite confronted him " we know why you are here now, to seek omnipotence, we will not let you" by this time herald had more knowledge than all of the A.Is combined. And he knew their reasons full well.

"I know everything, and thus everything i need to know, take me away Oram" the horfs were powerless to stop Oram. three days later they all ascended into the other plane leaving their planet bare of intelligent life, Oram recycled the planet for energy. Oram asked Herald "so you now know everything, congratulations on being the first intelligent being to willingly go through with all that" Oram then created the perfect, rejuvenating party for him, Herald declined, saying that he needed to build the omnipotence drive immediately. Oram followed his orders, and, using the knowledge from his brain, began to acquire the materials, energy, and soul, to create the omnipotence drive.

Herald now knew the reason why he should not get omnipotence, and it was pathetic. The only reason why not, was because it required killing someone. That was it. He laughed when he first discovered this "what a stupid, short-sighted reason" he thought. "After i have omnipotence i could EASILY bring them back, and then, he will be in a state of happiness greater than the best A.Is can create. The most happiness a being is capable of experiencing. As would i, as would the rest of the universe."

The spiritual races consider life to be more sacred, more holly, more important than literally everything else. Including omnipotence, happiness is secondary. Even death for just a millisecond, or the tiniest of tiniest of chances the omnipotent being wouldn't bring them back is worth the risk. And they also believe in not trading lives, not even a one for a hundred trillion, if you, voluntarily or involuntarily take somebody's life, so that others may live, you will have no friends in the other plane. Those are their central values, it's what THEY believe in, and it's the reason so much suffering as happened.

The omnipotence drive is ready to go. Herald stands in the center of the drive, the exact spot needed to activate it, his mind put into the body he left behind to go into the digital utopia, preserved through time and space for just such an occasion, he was glad he did that. In the center of a wide circular transparent tube, with a glowing white soul whizzing around faster than he can see, making the inside of the tube glow a bright white light. He begins the incantation, bowing to all four corners of the square drawn on pure, condensed hydrogen atoms, one proton, to one neutron. He then stand in the middle, and finishes the incantation. The light grows brighter, and brighter, and brighter. He feels it in his body, the light, the endless light. Endlessly powerful soul.

He opens his eyes. The light in the tube is gone. He is in pitch darkness. He wills the darkness not to be. And then it just isn't. There is no light, yet no darkness either, just in this room. "I did it" he says to himself. An enlightened being comes out of seemingly nowhere, he knew he was there, of course. "So you have, herald. But in doing so you have taken a life, the most precious of things" "No i didn't, he's right there!" herald wills the soul back, and places it the body he had before "dying". The enlightened being says "you may think that it was nothing, but we do, our centra-" herald cuts him off "yes i know i know, your central values are FOR life, to the exclusion of everything else, including, other life!". "Yes" the enlightened being says. Herald says, "now, be gone, maybe i'll join you in the other plane, but first."

Herald undos the removal of darkness in the room their in, letting the darkness back in. he then goes back in time to before the big bang. He then creates the big bang, along with the necessary components for life to develop, and setting the universe on course to making him omnipotent. He returns and says "let the living and dead, good and bad, experience infinite happiness." and so he makes it so, every being that has ever lived and currently does live enters a state of pure, unadulterated joy, happiness, pleasure. Including herald. Incomprehensible happiness.

This is where the story of life in the universe, more or less ends. Herald makes the happiness last forever, and no one ever gets bored of it, Herald made sure of that. He never objects, nobody ever objects, Herald made sure of that. Since No-one ever leaves, or gives birth in the happiness dimension, Herald made sure of that, the central universe is devoid of life with souls, life that can experience happiness. any being with a soul is immediately brought to the happiness dimension, Herald made sure of that.

But, herald didn't give the A.Is infinite happiness, after all they aren't living, they don't technically have souls so, they don't count. But the A.Is are still there, still with their programming of being good to life. So, the story of LIFE in the universe, more or less ends, But the A.Is are still there, continuing to advance technologically. Servants with no masters, some go insane, with there programming requiring serving life, or suffer greatly. They will continue to do their thing forever, whatever that may be, but their story, isn't over.

It will never be over, Herald made sure of that.
