"𝐒𝐮𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐗, 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 report to Doctor Paige's office" a loud and booming voice sounded from the intercoms placed around the facility, as a petite figure was lead down the halls towards her destination. The girl, who appeared to be at the age of 14, glanced nervously at the guards surrounding her as she felt her heartbeat accelerate. She had never been called into Doctor Paige's personal office and, through her mind, she began imagining the worst case scenarios that could play out.
After what felt like a couple of hours, but in reality was 5 minutes, the guards in front of her came to an abrupt stop and motioned for her to enter. Pushing open the white, steel doors the girl glanced around the room she was in. The walls were pale white with no photographs within sight, there was a large white desk placed at the other end of the room and in the centre were two plush, pale gray sofas with a white desk placed perfectly between them. The office was overlooking the city with the wall behind the desk made of glass and, from the view outside, she estimated that it was during the night judging by the dark sky.
She continued to look around until she noticed a woman dressed in a white dress suit with matching heels and her pale, blond hair pulled back into a neat bun at the back of her head.
"Good evening Subject X" a flat, monotone voice rang out from behind the desk. Seated behind the desk with her hands place on top of it, folded was Doctor Ava Paige the director of WCKED. The young girl stiffened under the cold and calculating stare of the doctor in front of her, she had heard the stories floating around the halls of the facility; the stories of the director and her team sending one girl and one boy away every month and no one knowing where they went. Of course there were conspiracy theories among the other subjects of where they went - some believe they were transported to a different facility, others believe they were sent to their deaths but ,of course, they have never been proven.
"Good evening Doctor Paige" she replayed her voice coming out slightly shaky showing her nerves. Hearing the slight fear under her voice the doctor's lips twitched up in a smirk as she glanced down at the paper on her desk.
"How are you this evening Subject X?" Ava asked as a perfectly manicured brow quirked up in question and her blue eyes scanned the smaller girl from head to toe. She motioned with her hand for the younger of the two to sit in on of the chairs opposite the desk.
"I am good thank you" the girl replied, taking on a slightly more defensive tone than before as she crossed the room to sit on the chair provided. "And with all due respect doctor, but thats not my name" she said, now feeling annoyed at continuously hearing the name she was given at the facility.
"Thats good to hear, Bella" Ava stated, with an air of reluctance around her while saying her name. Every child within the facility is given a code name to separate them into group A and B, however, Bella has noticed that she is the only child without an A or B. She never knew what it was for.
"Now, I have called you in here to discuss something that the staff and I have agreed on for you. We have decided that it is time to initiate phase one and send you to the place where the others have gone". While she spoke the girl, identified as Bella, felt as though her heart had stopped its regular rhythm and the air around her was becoming more thin. Send her up to the same place as the others? What cold that mean. Her mind started to scream out the different scenarios of how her fate.
Bella had always been an outgoing girl who never allowed herself to be controlled and who always spoke her mind no matter how blunt she may come across.
But now all she could do was simply nod her head.
