Monday morning, while they were in History, Val noticed something different about her friend. Katrina and Nicolaus had been playing eye tag all day. She nudged her friend in the arm. She whispered over to her, "What's going on with you and the hunk-sicle?" Katrina blushed red.

"Nothing... why, did he say something about me?" Katrina asked in fake concern. Val rolled her eyes and giggled.

"Seriously, he keeps looking over this way at you," she kept up.

Katrina was scribbling notes in her book. "Maybe he likes me..."

Val gasped. "Was he at the country club with you?" she asked with extra pressure. Their teacher, no longer wanting to deal with Val called for attention.

"Miss Novak! This is the 5th time this week you have interrupted my lesson. Please, you must pay attention. The 14th-century wars are very important to learn and understand." Again, Val rolled her eyes at their teacher.

Mrs. Elwes sighed and returned to her lesson. Nicolaus and Katrina both gave each other a smile. This concerned her friend. For Val, she too had suspected something was going on with her friend and Nicolaus and she was determined to get to the bottom of it.
