I Can Still Taste the Blackberries

When I looked into the clouds,

I longed to lie with them.

Where I could feel light,

Filled with nothingness.

So I laid in my bed,

And let the whir of my fan

Make me fly.

My fingers tingled

And I thought, "I'm floating!"

But really I was just falling

Off the cliff into sleep.

In my dreams, it was a fairytale,

My own "Once upon an absence of time"

Where the blackberries were sweeter

And my voice could be heard by everyone.

But then dreams broke

And I could see the sky again.

And I longed to lie with the clouds

Where I could feel light,

Filled with nothingness.
