Goodbye

43 2 2

The water trails through my fingers,
Freezing my fingertips through,
A chill in my bones,
And an ache in my heart.

The wind blows through my hair,
Carrying voices past my hopeful ears,
Ears yearning for stories,
Ears yearning for truth.

The soft ground cradles my body,
Cushions my arms and legs,
But the sounds in my head,
They are unavoidable.

Goodbye,
I'm sorry,
The sounds no one likes to hear,
No one wants to hear.

Hello,
Good morning,
The sounds I used to hear,
That I don't anymore.

The ice broken,
Only to be refrozen,
By similarities,
By differences.
