Romance. A beautiful word. Something that a human bean can pick up quickly. Something that can never develop in other human beans. Something that makes a fool of us all whatever age we may be.

Lily looked down at her notebook and sighed. She didn't much know why she'd written what she'd written. Even the way she'd written it bugged her. She closed her eyes and clenched her teeth in a smile, then opened them again and looked down at the words in her notebook again.

Perhaps my story of romance will never begin. Better for that than to be my own worst fool. Being blunt I don't know why people seek romantic relationships. Perhaps I'm hoping for one. Perhaps I don't know my own feelings.

She ground her pen into that last period so the ink was thicker and darker where the paper in the notebook indented.

She buried her head in her hands and closed her eyes. Nothing seemed to matter or even spark interest in her these days. This notebook was going to be quite the jumble of nonsense. A small smile, a single spark touched her mind. If she didn't care, then it didn't matter right? Let the insanity begin.
