Chapter Five:

Katrina POV:

I finish setting the catapults up and I fill them with the throwing stars, I cover them in leaves and I hook them up to the trip wire, I got a sprinkler system as well that I put on the top branches of some trees and on the ground, I have them hooked up to another trip wire which I set off and it will activate the sprinklers which are connected to some small water tanks filled with wolfsbane and vervain water, my phone starts ringing and I answer it first ring "Hello" I greet as check that everything is hooked up properly

"Hey babe, any chance you could ditch that weekend school, my mum won't stop bugging me and she told my dad and now he wants to meet you" Zac explains

"Meeting the parents, that's a big step" I say as I make the trip wire a bit tighter, you know so there's more tension in it and it will snap easier and things will move faster

"You don't have to say yes, it might just be awkward" he says and I chuckle

"When is it?" I ask as I start packing up the extras that I didn't use

"Well we're busy tonight but my mum started making a huge breakfast because she is having a phase in her life where she thinks she's psychic and she has seen you coming over" he says with an awkward chuckle

"Well your food won't go to waste, I'll be there in about five minutes" I say quickly checking the time

"Great, that's great, fantastic even, it's fantastically great, and sorry I'll stop now" he says and I hear a chuckle in the background

"You're being awkward Zac" an older man's voice says

"Yes dad I know I am, can you tell mum she'll be over soon" Zac says

"How have things been going, I've been meaning to ask" I ask

"Oh just working out and helping out, you know yesterday I was on the roof patching up a hole that one of the little kids made, how does a kid even make a hole in the roof?" he says

"Um a ladder and a saw or hammer" I state as I pick my duffel bag up and put it over my shoulder

"Is that how you would do it?" he asks

"Well probably, but I don't see the point in making a hole in the roof" I state as I start walking home

"Free air conditioning" he says and I laugh

"Yes at the price of bug infestation and the weather" I state and he laughs, I go into my house and put my bag in my training room

"I could come pick you up if you want" he suggests

"Sure, skinny jeans and tank top, decent enough?" I ask as I look down at my outfit, black skinny jeans, white tank top and white vans

"Perfect" he says and I hear a car start "I'll be there soon" he says

"I'll see you soon then" I say

"Love you" he says

"Love you too" I reply and hang up, I'm comfortable saying that but it's also a bit weird, he's the first person I remember saying it to

*Flash Back*

"My parents are the head of the assassin empire" I tell the vampire

"Wow, does that make you-"

"No, I'm not an assassin, they wanted me to train with them and then go to the academy to become a full assassin" I state
