In 1970, two famed ghost hunters and investigators were called to the home of a girl named Donna.

Donna had a large Raggedy Ann doll, said to have hosted the spirit of Annabelle. The doll would move from room to room, leave notes that it had hand-written, and attacked a friend of Donna's who had said that Donna should get rid of the doll. The doll choked the unfortunate friend in his sleep.

After experiencing these supernatural occurrences long enough, they got a priest to perform an exorcism on the doll. The paranormal investigators then locked the doll in a special case to keep its malevolence in check.

The last supposed evil act of Annabelle was cursing a visitor to the museum the doll was displayed at. The visitor allegedly taunted the doll, then he died in a motorcycle accident on his way home from the museum.
