What's is it?
The red string is a concept in Chinese folklore that people are connected by a red string of fate. When they meet the people at the end of the string, they are destined to be lovers. If they cut the string off, they will die so will their lover. The string is mostly on the Pinky.

Scenario
Some people have this rare condition that 20% have but 80% don't in the world, this rare condition show them towards their soulmate or lover. The people born with this condition get it when they are kids or teenagers. Aki got it when she around 5 years old, she loved the red string and liked to show it off.
