Kalliope scanned the empty street and sidewalk that stretched out on both sides of her, taking in the foreboding, orange glow of the streetlights. "I knew I shouldn't have come out here alone," she said, a tremor of fear in her voice.

The angel dropped down behind her, and Kalliope quickly spun around with her sword, taking its head before it understood that she'd tricked it. She sighed heavily, slinging blood off of her blade. "It's almost too easy."
