Chapter 42

[I'm getting all set for this proposal. There was no question on who I was going to ask first. I was going to ask Miku first. After all, she's my Quintuplet and the one that has stuck by me all this time. In all honesty, if I had to choose one, it would be her. I planned this all out. Miku was someone who liked adventure even though she really didn't show it. I was going to give her a little quest for her to embark on. I sent her a text and went to the meeting place]

Miku POV

[I'm listening to music when I get a text from Third. I look at and read]

<Third>: I have a surprise waiting for you. Come find me to get it.

<Miku>: You know that I hate surprises.

<Third>: Would the warlords back down from adventure?

[He got me there]

<Miku>: This surprise better be worth it. Where are you?

<Third>: Just head downstairs and let your adventure begin.

[I put my phone away. I went downstairs because I was probably walking. I arrived at the bottom and saw a limo]

Man: Miss Nakano?

Miku: Yes?

Man: Need a ride? I'm from Third's family. He wasn't going to make you walk.

[At least he isn't heartless. I got in and arrived at a flower shop where an old lady was selling flowers]

Lady: Hello, miss. I was expecting you.

Miku: Really?

Lady: Yes. A young man told me to give you this.

[She handed me a bouquet and a note. The bouquet has red roses but one black one. I smiled as I read the note]

Third: "Red is for the color of your hair when we first met. Black is for the handkerchief that I wear. Like the bouquet, we fit well together."

[I smile. I got back into the limo and we set off again. We arrived at an electronic store. It seemed familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. That's when it hit me. I went to the checkout and saw a lady with a big smile on her face. I couldn't tell whether she was supposed to or if she just really liked her job]

Lady: Nice headphones you have there.

Miku: Thank you. They were given to me by someone special.

Lady: Of course. Those are one of a kind.

Miku: What do you mean?

Lady: We don't sell headphones with triangles on them. That was a customized. I guess whoever gave them to you really knew you.

[I smiled. The lady handed me a note]

Third: "Years ago I wrapped those headphones around you. I want to continue to wrap them around you until the very end."

[I got back in and we drove away. We arrived at a shrine and I stepped out. Ladies were waiting outside]

Lady: We've been expecting you. Please come this way.

[I was led inside. I was then fitted for a Japanese wedding gown and I had my makeup done. Why did Third want me to come here? This place didn't seem familiar. After they had finished, the ladies led me outside where a trail of red and black roses made a path]

Miku: Am I supposed to follow these?

[The ladies all nodded. I went down the path which led to a cherry blossom tree. I looked around for Third but didn't see him. I looked up at the tree. I heard a voice]

???: Beautiful isn't it?

[I looked and saw Third. He was wearing an extra fancy tux]

Miku: Why did you lead me here?

Third: Why? Because this is where it all began.

Miku: What do you mean?

Third: This is the exact spot of where I first made that promise.

[My eyes widen. This was where he first made that promise?]

Third: I also would like to make that same promise here.

[Third walked over to me and got down on one knee. I started to tear up. In the background, I could hear our song playing]

Third: You have no idea how much I had to beg them to let me put those speakers there.

[I just laughed. He pulled out a ring]

Third: Miku Nakano, you were the first to love me and always stayed by my side. Years ago, I made a promise and I want to solidify that promise again. You are beautiful. You may look like your sisters but you are one of a kind. Whenever I'm around you, I can just be myself and not worry about you judging me. You might hate your personality but it's what I love most about you. So...Miku Nakano, will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?

[I could answer. Words weren't coming out. So I did the next best thing. I wrapped my arms around him and kissed his lips softly]

Third: That was bold. Are you sure you're not Nino?

[I just laughed]

Third: I'm kidding. I already knew who I wanted to propose to first.

Miku: I'm first?

Third: You may be the third of your sisters but you'll always be my first.

[He decided to kiss me again. I didn't want it to end]

Third: So, is that a "yes"?

Miku: A million times "yes"!

[We just stood there underneath that tree. I don't remember how long we were there but I do know that it was one of the happiest moments of my life]
