He had grown fond of her singing, though he would never admit it. There was something soothing and alluring about her beautiful voice that drew him in and he never wanted to leave, but like always, the song would come to an end. He wanted to ask her to sing again and again, but pride struck him silent.
"When the night sneaks in.
Pick some flowers for my sake.
The pretty stars smile, saying hi.
Goodbye to the day.
Tomorrow will bring a brighter morrow.
So dream a pretty dream.
Bye for now and sleep tight my child."
And a single tear would roll down her cheek, glowing under the moonlight. He would always feel guilty, guilty that he had listened to such a beautiful song and enjoyed it when it was intended for his daughter who had fallen into a coma.
But, it was easier to despise than accept the truth, because the truth like always, is painful. The truth was that her beautiful voice reminded him of a blonde beauty he once knew, the words gliding like twirls and graceful movements. The truth is that the song was intended for his ill daughter and here he was now enjoying it and craving for more. He would rather despise than accept.
But the truth always comes back and there's nothing to do but accept it. For every time she sings, for even a moment, he is in complete bliss. Then after, it is a war inside his head. He wants her to stop, yet if she does, he may as well go insane.
The simple lullaby that escapes her lips; he loves, he craves. Yet, maybe it's not the song but the singer, the lady he has watched everyday sing a beautiful song. She is beautiful and he knows it, but he won't admit it out loud. Not now, but maybe one day in forever.
But, as sapphire eyes meet turquoise ones, he craves for the lullaby. Just one more time.
