Author's commentary:
freins = friends
A sweet denouement.
I find the story intriguing because it centers on the monster, even though it's written from the Earthlings' point of view. We learn almost nothing about the Earthlings. Rather, we experience the monster's response to their presence and actions. It's the monster who is wronged. His/their world is invaded by aliens (Earthlings), who steal his/their property and technology. It's the monster who catches them. It's the monster who metes out justice. And in the end, it's the monster who seeks reconciliation.
