The grammar may be questionable, but a seven-year-old using Shakespearean apostrophes is pretty dope (open'd, chas'd).
The conceptualization of the monster was almost certainly influenced by "Sigmund and the Sea Monsters", a Saturday morning TV serial that ran in the U.S. between 1975 and 1978.
