TW: feeing of worthlessness, slight mention of child neglect

This is a vent. Only slightly, though, don't worry. My parents are nowhere near as bad as Scott's are. Also, this takes place from when he was in highschool.'

Scott was sitting at his desk, working on his math homework.

He was almost done with it, too, until he heard a screaming match from the other room. Scott tried his best to ignore it, even trying to tune it out with some music. Yet, it didn't prevail and he still heard the screaming.

He heard silence for a few moments, and he felt a cold shiver down his spine. It was hardly ever quiet, so whenever it was quiet it terrified Scott more than anything.

Scott heard the slam of a door, and then footsteps approaching. He considered for a second that maybe....maybe his father or mother (it depended on which partner would leave the house after a fight) would come by him and actually talk to him once. Maybe he'd finally be good enough for them to actually talk to him and give him attention.

But of course, Scott thought as he heard the slam of a door nearby, it didn't happen. He'd never be good enough for them to care about or acknowledge at all. They'll never treat him like an equal or with love or compassion, and he's known that for years. But he did know someone who would.

So, he left.

He packed his bag, and went over to stay at a friends house for the time being.

Except....he didn't.

When he got there, he saw her and more friends that said they were busy to do anything after school when they were at school. They were the same friends that Scott doubted that cared about him at all, and that he's convinced that they're sick of him.

The worst part?

They were hanging out with the one he depended on the most, the one who could make him happy no matter what even if he had his doubts about her had betrayed him like this.

His heart sunk down to his chest. Tears welled up in his eyes, and his knees gave out. He knew she didn't care about him and that he's just a pity friend. That he isn't someone to be cared about by anyone, not even his friends.

Scott wasn't good enough for anyone. And he knew he'd never be.

He just....he just had wished that his friends actually cared about him and wanted to be his friend. Gosh, he was pathetic, but hey, at least he's admitting it to himself.

'I guess this is what I deserve,' He thought, as he took off his glasses and rubbed the fog of them.
