Disclaimer: I don't own PJO (clearly) but this needed to be said sooo...

Annabeth was coming home today and honestly, I'm kinda scared. It may sound ridiculous but I feel guilty for letting Annabeth grow up the way she did and I'm determined to fix this today. She said she's bringing a friend and I was about to protest before I realized that it might be a good idea. I can at least try to understand her world and how she lives now.

Time skip to Annabeth's arrival

*the doorbell rings* It's Annabeth. I quickly start fussing over the little details like whether or not the table is set properly and that Bobby and Matthew are in order. Then I remember to actually open the door. Annabeth and... this young man are waiting patiently outside. Well, at least her friend was. Annabeth was leaning on one hip, tapping her foot. I usher them inside and allow them to pick a seat at the table. They sit side by side and drag their seats closer together. I was about to interrupt them and possibly ask what they think they're doing when Helen walks in. She sees Annabeth and her posture stiffens, then relaxes. "Annabeth! Hi-... Oh, who is this gentlemen?" she says. At least she has better control of her unfortunate dislike of my daughter. I realized I never caught the young man's name. Annabeth looks unsure on what to say but her friend saves her the trouble by stating, "I'm Percy, Annabeth's boyfriend," and if the shock of that wasn't enough, he grabbed her hand and held it. I admit, my jaw dropped. Percy is her boyfriend? Percy. The scrawny little kid who came to my house a couple years ago on the quest to save my daughter? I get over it though because stranger things have happened.

Time skip to the middle of dinner

"Sooo..." Percy drags out. The silence apparently became too unbearable for him. Bobby and Matthew were eating quietly for once. "How did this happen?" I blurted out, gesturing at Annabeth and Percy. Annabeth sits up straighter, her posture tense like she's preparing for a fight to errupt. "Dad, don't-" Percy places a hand on her arm and immediately placates her. What? How..? "Sir, with all due respect, I love your daughter and would go through hell for her. Please approve of this relationship." and then mutters "I have enough problems with Athena on my back." I catch Annabeth murmur "You've already gone through hell for me Percy." I really hope she doesn't mean literally. But I guess with the life of a demigod, anything could be possible.

Later, after dinner, we all go to the living room to watch a movie together. All of a sudden, Annabeth stiffens and her eyes glaze over. She begins to fall and Percy catches her. He mutters things to her in a reassuring tone that I can't really catch. Something about getting out of ________? She "wakes up" from her trance and hugs Percy hard. "What just happened?" I demand. Annabeth looks at me with tears in her eyes. I'm in shock because she never cries in front of people. "We went through hell together dad... and sometimes we get flashbacks that remind us of how we barely survived." "Hell?" My eyes widen. "You don't mean-" Percy interrupts me, "Please don't say the name, sir. They have power." I sit there in silence. Maybe... Annabeth did grow up without a father figure. But she has Percy and I have a feeling that she is and has always been in safe hands.

I hope you liked this! I know it's kind of overused but leave comments, suggestions and such. Thanks!
