Hi, I'm Owen Wilson Estevan, as you can see I was named after that cowboy guy from Night at the Museum, and also the sidekick of Jackie Chan from Shanghai Noon. Yeah, you heard it right. Well, I am just a simple and ordinary 18 yrs old First year college student from Manila, who happened to have a mom who loves Owen Wilson so much, yeah... Owen Wilson, the Hollywood celebrity! And that's how I got my name. But let's move on. That is not the reason why I am here on my bed right now with this book on my hand that I can't seem to open and read. Since my hands are kinda shaky and my mind is kinda hazy because of this girl I've met on the first day of school. Not that we got the opportunity to get to know more of each other, cause you know I'm not that kind of guy who stick around with girls. I actually don't know anything about her aside from her name. But just this friday, 3 months after the first day of school, around 12:45 pm when I was about to go back inside my classroom, she went over to me and handed me a ticket to her gig. Still puzzled from this gesture I actually found myself in a bar where she and her band mates do perform. Though I am on my legal age, that was my first time in a bar. It was kinda intoxicating up until I saw Heaven upstage performed live with her bandmates. Up until now, I can still picture out the image of her during that night they performed. I can still remember how she delivered each songs she sung in full details. How each of it has a vast and deep meaning in to her life. Even though that was just the third time that I've seen her in my life I felt like I have known her for the rest of my life. I felt like we have this connection that only the two of us could actually understand.
After that night as we were staring at the glimmering lights of the streetlights while we're saying our goodbyes to each other she suddenly handed me a book. Yeah! A book. And this surprised me a lot. I might seem so geeky, bookish or nerdy because of my appearance with all this glasses and sheepish stuffs from school but, no, I'm not into books. You could just give me a dvd or an xbox but a book? Heck, if I care with that thing. But, since I have this image of being a nice guy I accepted the book with all my heart and said thank you.
"I'm so happy to share this book with you!" she said
"Para to sakin?"
"Oo, para sayo! Well, here's the deal, I'll treat you once na matapos mo tong basahin."
"Ah... Yeah! I'll read this as soon as I can."
"Promise?"
And here's the biggest lie I have ever told to someone... Uhhmm... no, to myself, rather.
"Yeah, promise!"
