Winter in Beacon Hills is always beautiful. At least I think so. It's always so bright during the day and so rich at night, like a perfect cup of smooth dark roast. Speaking of which, I'm making a cup of coffee for my dad as he works a late shift at the clinic.

He stands now directing one of the workers there how to give a shot to a dog. Scott, I think? Well, he started a while back and he's pretty good with the animals especially recently. My dad has a hunch that Scott recently had an encounter with a werewolf, in specific, the one attacking everyone these days.

"Althea, thank you, my dear. Scott, have you met my daughter?" Dad takes the coffee from my hands before turning to a open mouthed Scott, "Daughter?"

"Yes, daughter. My wife died when Althea was born. She's only nineteen."

I wave at the shaggy haired boy who smiles crookedly back at me before flipping back to his phone behind him. Shrugging, I turn to my dad, "Dad, I'm heading home now. I'm leaving the car here for you."

"Who's driving you home?" Dad asks as he takes a sip of his dark roast before sighing in content. I smile at him before whispering, "Haley."

Dad chuckles a bit before kissing the side of my head, "Make sure you text me once you're home."

Nodding, I wave good bye to Scott and skip out of the clinic just as the black car rolls up next to me. The window rolls down a bit as two eyes look back at me, "Get in."

"Sure thing, Haley." I say as I open the door and he grimaces, "Why do you still call me that?"

"Because you're a Hale, and it's my nickname for you." I smirk at him before raising an eyebrow, "How much have I missed? My dad's employee seems to be a werewolf. Why was I not informed that you're even here now? When did you even come back?"

"Thea, calm down! It's a long story. I'll tell you on the way home," He says before fully turning to me, "How have you been? I've missed you."

My heart warms at his words as I hide a blush before saying, "You don't know how much I missed you."

He places his hand over mine and squeezes, "Well, you're here now. We can be at peace. How about we grab some food and talk about everything over dinner?"

Nodding, I settle back into the seat just as Scott runs out of the clinic, stopping at the sight of the car. As we leave the parking lot, I see Scott looking curiously at the car.

"Pizza or Chinese?" My best friend holds the phone in one hand as he rounds the corner to the kitchen.

"Pizza always wins." I say casually to which he rolls his green eyes at before dialing the number. As he makes the order, mushrooms and beef with a dash of black olives and some olive oil, I prepare the fort. It was our tradition. If we ever meet after a long time, we build a fort, have pizza and talk. After vacation I've taken, he was ready the day I came back.

"Oh, Althea, we have soo much to catch up on." He dives into the blankets before opening one side up for me to cuddle into.

"Show me your eyes." I say and he sighs, "I think I should tell you first."

"Show me." I demand and he looks down before back up with shining red eyes. Tilting my head, I ask, "Who?"

"Peter. Don't worry, he's dead. I killed him. Did your father not tell you? In fact, I actually thought your dad was the werewolf at one point. But I apologized for all the kidnapping and knocking out!"

"Derek Hale! You kidnapped my father?" I scold to which he shrugs, "I was just making sure!"

Rolling my hazel eyes at him, I lean back onto the pillow and nod, "Continue."

"And well, it was Peter. Peter was the Wolf. He killed my sister and he was going to put me and Scott under his pack until we killed him. Well I actually ended him, but yeah. Now I'm building my own pack, I already have one guy. Isaac. Waiting on Scott to join me." Derek mumbles the last part before smiling at me, "How is school?"

Shrugging, I sigh, "It's school. I met some cool chicks."

"Any boyfriends I need to have a talk with?" Derek raises his eyebrows and I gag, "No!"

As the door bell rings, Derek messes up my hair before calling out, "Keep your pants on! I'm coming!"

"That sounded so wrong." I mumble before sighing in content. Maybe this won't be so bad after all.
