"You're right again." There goes my last bit of self esteem.
"Okay." I walked into the house and went to get a bottle of water from the kitchen. He followed slowly behind me all the way into the kitchen.
"You know, I'm really glad that you finally realized that this marriage won't go anywhere. At least that's going to be one less problem for Amelia and I." He smiled as he shoved his hands in his front pockets,"I honestly hope we can become friends some time after this marriage ends."
There he goes again. As if I'm the least bit interested in being a friend of his. He has no sentiments. He actually has the guts to talk about her with me as if we were talking about the weather. This has definitely shown me the type of person he is; he's an inconsiderate brute that is not worthy of my attention. It's fine if he wants to be with Amelia, even when I told him that I liked him and it hurts to know that he still wants her but, he didn't have to add salt to the wound and rub it in.
I faked a smile, "And I honestly hope that she cheats on you with someone better." His bright smile instantly faltered; his face contorted into one of deep displeasure. "What?"
If there's one thing I've learned about men is that if their masculinity is challenged, they get angry. It would only be fair if I did a little damage to him on my way out of this marriage.
"You heard me," I braced myself against the counter and folded my arms, "One day she is going to realize what a useless, conniving and insensitive boy you are. And when she does I'll make sure I have a front row seat to watch her run into the sunset with someone much better than you."
His nose wrinkled in distaste while he forced his fingers through his chestnut brown hair for the second time. "Gabriella you better shut up before I do something I'll regret." He paced the small passageway in the kitchen.
A sinister laugh escaped my mouth, "Aw, did I strike a nerve for little Andrew? Are you insecure? He doesn't wan-"
"I said shut up!" He yelled as he slammed his fist against the counter so hard that the fruit bowl shook. I have always been observant of people and their reactions and if I spot a weakness, I will use it against them if they give me a reason to. I know it's wicked of me to belittle him but it's time he got a taste of his own medicine.
"Is little Andrew scared that the beautiful Amelia will find someone better?" I taunted. His face reddened with rage as he clenched and unclenched his fists. He paced around the kitchen continuously like a prowling lion with his eyes glaring daggers at the floor.
"I know what, you're afraid that when she stops fucking with a boy like you that she will find a real man for herself." He covered his ears with his hands and slammed his eyes shut. I must really be hitting it home...
"Andrew, believe it or not sooner or later she's gonna realize that she doesn't want a boy as a lifetime partner, she's going to want a man, a real man that does not cheat. And she's gonna leave you in the dust. Forgotten. Lonely."
His chest rose and fell as his ragged breaths could be heard. He looked heavenward as he braced at the counter further away from me, "For the last time Gaby, shut up. " Though his voice was low and seemingly relaxed, only a fool would believe that he was actually calm after everything I've said. I ignored all his warnings; why should I stop when I have the upper hand?
"Were you even her first choice in highschool Andrew? You might love her but the real question is does she love you?"
He took a glass from the sink and threw it against the wall. I gasped as I watched the glass shatter in to a million pieces. Now I'm starting to get a bit scared. "Shut the fuck up!" He paced the kitchen while he tugged on his hair. He stopped and pointed at the front door, "Get out! Leave!" He exclaimed. His eyes were glossy with tears.
A bitter laugh graced my lips. The murderous look on his face spoke volumes of just want he would do to satisfy his rage. I took my car keys from off the counter and my coat from the rack. There is no way I would stay in the same house with him after all that arguing with him. He might do something crazy.
"You're no different from me." I walked towards the door then I turned to look at him, "You're just as insecure and broken like me." I guess that was his last straw; he stormed towards the front door ready to yank me back into the house to do only God knows what with me.
My short legs did a miracle by getting me to my car in record time. Andrew sprinted with blinding speed to catch up to me. With shaky fingers I hurriedly jabbed the key in the lock and opened the door. I jumped in and locked the door just as his hand banged on the glass. "Open the fucking door bitch!" He viciously wrenched on the door's handle. I wasted no time to start the car and high tail it down the drive way on my way to no where particular.
That was scary.
