When I got there, feet aching, my jaw dropped to the ground. The whole place was made of glass. Freaking glass! Vampires and lots of glass doesn’t seem overly normal to me. I made my way up to the double doors and rang the door bell. Only a second later, a lady with long, curly brown hair came to the door, She looked shocked to see me standing there. “Um, h-hello, can I help you with something?”

“Yeah,” I said, looking around at the living room behind her. “I need to talk to Alice for a bit.” When I finished talking, the blonde guy, Jasper if I remember right, came up behind the women and looked at me, lust showing in his eyes. “Now now Jasper, be a dear and go get Alice please,” Even though she sounded like a caring mother, there was some sort of ‘go now or I will hurt you’ tone in her voice.

“Sure,” He walked off after staring at me for another second. The thud of feet going up carpeted stairs echoed through the living area. “Please, come in. I’m Esme, by the way,” She stepped back so I could come inside. “If you could just sit down on the couch, she should be down in a moment.” Esme smiled and walked into the hall, turning to the right and disappearing from view.

“Wow,” I said, looking around like a child in Toys R Us. Everything was so bright and open. Of all the places, why would vampires live here? I asked myself. I was staring out the window when I felt hands on my shoulders, brining me to my feet painfully. The hands turned me around so I was facing the culprit’s head. It was Edwards. His grip tightened on my shoulders, cutting off circulation. “How do you know we’re vampires?” He asked, hissing each word.

My eyes widened. “I I never said you were vamp-“ He flashed his sharp vampric fangs at me, telling me to shut up. Memories flew before my eyes, reminding me of the day I was attacked in the woods and made my knees buckle. I fell onto my hands and knees, soon to be curled up into a ball next to the couch. My hands were over my head kind of like I was performing a tornado drill. Despite my interests, I was shaking like I was outside during winter wearing nothing at all.

Small, almost inaudible whimpers came from my lips along with the repeated words, “Please, don’t hurt me, not again, please, not again!” Hot tears slid down my already flushed cheeks and I repeated that sentence over and over. Edward was staring at me, very confused about what he was seeing. He started backing up and I heard his footsteps getting softer and softer. Smaller hands fell onto my shoulders. I couldn’t help but cry out when they touched me. The tears were falling heavier now.

“Shhh sweetie, it’s okay, it’s okay, we didn’t mean to scare you. Come on, get up please,” I lifted my head to see her face, fuzzy on the edges, full of worry and confusion. She helped pull me up and sat me down on the oversized chair next to the couch. I was still shaking along with the tears still streaming down my face. She stroked my hands and looked over at Alice who had just stepped into the room. Her face was just like Esme’s only more worried. “Mirabelle? What…what are you doing here? What happened? Are you okay?”

She ran over and checked me over. “I-I’m fine Alice, just a l-little shaken up,” She snaked her arms around me and squeezed me tightly. When she let go, she looked me in the eyes, “Why are you here?” She shot straight up suddenly, her eyes narrowing as the seconds passed by. She turned to face the stairs and yelled so loudly that I had to cover my ears, “Edward you idiot! You scared the crap out of her! Remember what I told you about Mirabelle?” Just then, Edward popped out from behind the wall and walked down stairs.

“Wait, that’s Mirabelle? THE Mirabelle you’re always talking about? The one who’s like your best friend?” Alice nodded and Edward hit himself in the head. He looked at me and shook his head. “Sorry,” he muttered, then ran back upstairs. She looked at me again, and I answered her previous question. “I can to say that I forgive you and I want to be friends again,” She smiled warmly and gave me another hug. “Of course I’ll still be your friend May!” She let go, still smiling. I couldn’t help but smile back.
