the victim of the SCP- 409 has shown no improvement, all efforts in melting the cristal shell around the victim have been unsuccessful. the victim is currently contained in a quarantine room. further research required. end of the report,"
you spoke into a microphone before pressing the end record button.
you sighed as you looked down at your case file.the crystal that crystalizes anyone who touches it. you scuffed " I'll find a way" you whispered to yourself before placing the file back into your file cabinet.
you swiftly exited your office and headed over towards the cafeteria of the facility. you had been working in this place for 4 years. quite the adventure. conducting various experiments on victims of the SCPs, you spent your days cooped up in your laboratory, in an underground facility with no windows to the outside world. your focus was only the victim, never once were you authorized to research an actual SCP.
needless to say, you hated working here.
it was a wonder how you kept your sanity.
you poured yourself a cup of coffee and began to sip it slowly. you looked around at your colleagues as they were chatting with each other casually. among them, you saw your friend, Dr. F/N. you two have been friends for 2 years since she started working. she has a rather bubbly personality, which is what attracted you to be her friend. you saw you through the small crowd and walked towards you.
" hey! rough day huh?" she asked, greeting you warmly.
" Yeah, what about you?" you asked, taking another sip of your coffee.
" oh don't get me started, the SCP I'm working on is a level safe one but good lord things get...wired," she said with a groan, which caused you to giggle
" There is nothing normal about this place, you'll get used to it," you said with a smile.
at that moment, a guard walked up to you " Dr. L/N?" he asked
" yes?" you replied
" Dr. Horton wants to speak with you," he replied.
you looked at F/N and placed your mug down, she gave you a reassuring smile as you walked away with the guard.
" what could the head researcher possibly want from me?" you asked yourself as you walked behind the guard.
once you got to the office, you knocked on the door, rather quietly.
" come in" an elderly voice came from the other side.
you pushed the door open and walked inside the gray office " Dr. Horton, you wanted to see me?" you asked
" Ah yes Dr. L/N. please take a seat." the man replied from behind his desk.
you closed the door behind you and walked towards his desk, sitting on one of the two chairs placed in front of it.
" I have called you here to give you great news," he said as he placed a file right in front of you
you slowly took the file into your hand, studying the label " SCP_049" it read
your head shut up towards the old man in confusion " why are you giving me this?" you asked
" the Doctor leading the research on the SCP has been...terminated. since you are one of our finest doctors I have decided to appoint this case to you. starting tomorrow you will be granted a level 3 access. you will be informed should there be any problems with the SCP. all activities regarding the SCP will be authorized by you," he said a proud smile.
" b-but I have never researched an SCP before!" you exclaimed
" yes I am aware, but I have no doubt that you are capable of this task." he said, " now you are dismissed."
you felt like you had no say in the matter, your hands were tied. you slowly stood up and walked out of his office. your eyes were fixed on the file in your hand as you mindlessly walked towards your office. you locked the door behind you and sat behind your desk. opening the file, you saw the first set of information about it.

" SCP-049, subject class: Euclid, known as " the plague doctor". 1.8 meters tall, weighs 85 kg. has the appearance of a medieval plague doctor. the mask and the robe worn by the SCP seems to be attached to its skin. generally cordial and cooperative, yet outbursts or sudden changes in behavior are to be met with elevated force. Under no circumstances should any personnel come into direct contact with SCP-049 during these outbursts. In the event SCP-049 becomes aggressive, the application of lavender (L. multifida) has been shown to produce a calming effect on the entity. Once calmed, SCP-049 generally becomes compliant and will return to containment with little resistance. "
