Chapter 5: Dumb

Its been a week since I last saw Dominic. Lily and I went to a class camping trip but I talked to him every night still. The most important things though are that I enjoy nature, the company of my best friend an to win the little competitions our class made so we bond even if I don't want to do it, it's my last year in high school anyways.

"Ava stop texting, I want to sleep" Lily poked me in our tent, I was writing my song and chatting with the boy. Who would have thought that nature helps me get creative?

"Sorry" I whispered while I turned off my phone and went to sleep.

After 7 days of camping my dad took me home. I told everything to him already but my mum had to stay at home so I have to repeat myself for her.

"How was it darling?" my mum asked in the kitchen.

"Lily and I won 5 of the competitions out of 7! We were running and jumping every day basically!" I walked around the room when someone called and I excused myself to go to my room

Incoming call: Dominic

"Hi-"
"HELLO LOVE" he yelled through the device
"Whats up Dom?" I asked hopping onto my bed
"Everything's splendid. I wanted to ask if you are free tonight"
"I just got home from the trip and I'm really tired but I'm free tomorrow, why?"
"Well I wanted to just hang around the town tonight but if we go out tomorrow then i can take you to our studio"
"O M G" I got excited and jumped up earning a yell from my mom to don't break the floor
"Maybe some cute guy can even make a producer listen to you..." he hinted
"ARE YOU FOOKIN KIDDING ME?? YOU ARE THE BEST"
"I know love" he laughed "I'll get you at 2"
"Okay tomorrow then"
"Yes"

I hung up and danced around my room until I got so exhausted that I eventually fell asleep. Next morning after I drank my coffee sat down to decide what I will sing to the producer. I don't want to sing my own song because what if they steal it, duh.
Half an hour later I got to the decision.
"DUMB" I said loudly
"AVA SMITH YOU CAN'T TALK LIKE THAT"
"No dad its a song by nirvana" I told him and he just nodded

I rehearsed, dressed up just in time. Dominic rang my phone to tell me he is outside.

"Hey darling" I closed the door while getting comfortable on the front seat
"Hi love" he leaned over to hug me
"This is Michael and Adam my best mates and band members" he turned to the guys on the backseat
"Hello!" I smiled

We introduced ourselves and chatted about how I want to start making music professionally, how they met and stuff. It was fun, we got on well.

*Later*

"So this is where the toilets are if you have to" Dom pointed at two doors while we walked through a long corridor "That's where you can get coffee" he showed me a small Starbucks inside the building"
"You guys have an own Starbucks???" I got surprised
"As you can see" Adam laughed
"Harrison spends hours here when he gets into songwriting" Michael hit  the mentioned boys arm
"That is true"

We finally reached the end of the corridor and entered a dark room with blue lights.

"Oh yall definitely have to take pictures of me in this light" I said looking around
The boys were recording a new song when we heard a knock on the door.

Help me take my precious time-

The guy who records the song turns to the man standing in the door, the boys stopped and started staring from behind the glass.

"Mr.Sykes nice to see you again" he shook his hand
"You too. Harrison said he has a girl here that I could work with." he said and looked at me "Is it you by any chance? Ava.." he held out his hand for me
"Ava Smith. Yes I am the girl he was talking about"
"Please follow me" he said and I went after him
