Dara was deciding to throw a party, on Christmas eve, just like they used to do, with Seunghyun.

Except, this year, Seunghyun would not be there.

And Marcus Kane would.

So naturally, Jisoo wasn't absolutely thrilled at the idea.

She knew it was unhealthy for her to hold this against her mother, understanding that she needed to move on with her life, too.

So Jisoo didn't put up a fight.

In fact, she hadn't said anything, when she'd received the news two weeks ago, when she was blissfully unaware of what was to come.

Jisoo closed the apartment door behind her as she stepped inside.

As she was about to call out to greet Jennie, intending to set her backpack on the floor beside her, she paused when she heard Jennie's voice, quite caustic sounding.

"Are you kidding me?" Jennie fumed, her voice seemingly coming from the bedroom.

There was a moment of silence.

As Jisoo furrowed her brows and moved to take another step forward, Jennie started up again.

"This is bullshit. Are you seriously okay with this? What about Hanbin-"

Another pause.

"June, I'm not going to derail Jisoo's holiday because of our family issues-"

Jisoo's breath caught when she heard her name, and she accidentally dropped her bag onto the floor, hearing it thud loudly off her shoe.

"Ow, shit!" Jisoo hissed and recoiled, staring angrily at her bag for giving her away.

"Jisoo?" Jennie's voice caught her attention again.

Jisoo glanced up, cheeks red from being caught, wincing in pain.

Jennie rushed over, and Jisoo noticed that she'd ended the call. "Are you hurt? What happened, love?" Jennie began fussing over her, moving the backpack aside.

Jisoo shook her head. "Just me being clumsy." She cleared her throat, taking a second to study her girlfriend of five years,( this New Year's Eve). She was beautiful. As always. Wearing her form fitting team hoodie, her hair pulled up into a ponytail, lips formed in the slightest pout.

Jisoo's words died in her throat and she managed to croak instead.

Jennie regarded her with concern, clearly aware that something wasn't right.

"Hi." Jisoo settled instead, reaching to cup Jennie's cheeks. Jennie instantly leaned into her touch.

Jisoo took a moment to study her face. The sharp jawline, the freckles, almost invisible. The high cheek bones, the little dimples that would form when she smiled.

Those gorgeous cat eyes. So innocent, to Jisoo.

She didn't know how it was possible, for a gaze to convey so much. She'd heard, time and time again, that eyes were the windows to one's soul.

If Jennie's soul could speak, every glance of hers was saying "I would do anything for you".

It always left Jisoo breathless and weak in the knees.

"Hi." Jennie mumbled softly, turning her cheek to press a kiss into Jisoo's palm.

And then they both leaned forward, noses brushing as they met in a slow, languid kiss, Jisoo's arms slowly winding around Jennie's neck.
