Chapter 10: That's What Friends Are For
After a stupidly long walk, I eventually made it to my car. However, right as I was about to open the door a hand grabbed mine and spun me around. "Where the hell do you think you're going?"

"To the house. Where else would I be going, Natalie?" I say, yanking my arm out of her grasp. "Now, if you'll excuse me."

"Oh no, you'll be coming with me, Missy." She grabs my arm again and tries to pull me away, but I refuse to move. "Natasha, you are not driving in this condition! It isn't safe."

"Since when did you care about my safety?" I chuckle, shaking my head slightly at the absurdity. "I'd rather take my chances driving myself than go anywhere with you."

"Natasha, get in my car now. I am your mother and you will do as I say."

I laugh at her failed attempts at parenting, which only angers her more. "Natalie, you stopped being my mother a long time ago, so you can stop putting on the 'parent' act. You don't care about me, so quit pretending that you do."

"I came out of a very important business meeting just for your ungrateful ass to be acting like this!" She rolls her eyes and sighs before continuing, "Get in my car now, or else."

Now this really made me laugh, so much so that my stomach started to ache. "Or else what?"

"Or else..." Before she can respond, I quickly pull my arm out of her grasp once again, hop into my car and drive away hoping to get a head start. I know she'll either follow me home to continue arguing or go back to her "important business meeting". Guess we'll find out when I get back to the house.

The second I got back, I headed straight up to my room and locked the door. I'm really not in the mood for another argument because of my head and there's no way in hell I'm going to gym, so sleeping will have to do.

I'm not sure how long I was asleep for, but the doorbell sounding multiple times certainly broke me out of my slumber. "One second!"

I quickly throw on some sweatpants and a top and head downstairs to answer the door. "What?"

"Well, someone's in a mood."

"Oh, you have no idea." I rub my hand over my face and yawn, still half asleep from my nap. "What are you all doing here?"

"We thought we'd come and cheer you up after what happened at practice!" Destiny says a little too loudly for my liking.

"Yeah! We brought movies, snacks and lots and lots of cuddles!" Brit adds whilst pulling me in for a hug. After everything that has happened today, a (quiet) slumber party is exactly what I need. I'm not sure how the 'quiet' part of that is going to work, but I guess we'll see.

"So, what movie should we watch first?" Marissa asks as she pours some popcorn into a bowl.

"What movies did you bring?" I ask, trying to decide myself what genre I'm in the mood for.

"We brought all the Bring It On and Step Up movies since Mar hasn't seen any of them." Destiny mocks and Marissa throws a piece of popcorn at her.

"I think we should watch Fight to the Finish first because Tasha got hella inspired by it last time, right?" Brittany says, giving me a knowing look.

"Um, yeah, the part where they include different boxing moves in their routine had me thinking that maybe we could do that. I think it would be cool to mix different types of dance and different sports in with the cheering, just to spice things up a bit." I looked over at Marissa nervously to see if she would approve or not.
