Weve been traveling for a full day now, to our new home: the city. I dreaded leaving my home town and all my friends behind, but Mother says the move was 'ineventable.' I'm guessing that means we couldn't stop it. Yes, I was upset, but it was nothing compared to Joseph. He has been screaming and kiking the whole way here. On the horison, I can just barely see the city. From my seat in the carriage, I can make out what seems to be dark smoke smothering the sky. I can barely see the sun. Mother and Father look worried: perhaps this won't be as good as they thot.

Wish us luck,

Mary.
